Ivan280zt
i just got done with my front five lug conversion (77 280z) using z31 hubs and scca mikes spacers and everything came out just perfect but when i went to put my calipers on (stock ones with new pads) they wouldnt fit on. i know that z31 rotors are thicker (because they are wented) so what do i have to do now? should i just go and get toyota four piston calipers or is there way to trim down my pads (stock ones). also what year did those four pistons caliper come off (i need exact years) and how much am i looking to spend on remanufactured ones. any help would help alot. denny411
me if this is too obvious, but did you push the pistons back into the calipers? I know it would be an obvious mistake, but at the end of a long day when things have gone less than right, I`ve missed things that I normally wouldn`t. How much too thick are the rotors? could they be turned? I myself would go with the Toyota calipers anyway, but thes are all good ?`s
Mudge
Master cyl, take the cap off it, and push on the pistons, some cars need a C clamp (well, it helps).
Ivan280zt
ok here it is. rotors have just been turned today, calipers are pushed all the way in and i mean all the way, cap is already taken off and there is no any fluid in the lines yet. mike240zt
z31 rotors vented require 88 toyota 4x4 v-6 model calipers
zcarnut
You can use the calipers from the 1986-88 Toyota four-wheel-drive truck. This caliper is exactly the same as the 1979-85 Toyota caliper, EXCEPT it is made wider for a 22mm thick rotor (the same thickness as the Z31 rotor). The 1988 Toyota V6 caliper is heavier but has more pad and piston area and hence requires a one inch diameter master cylinder (this is my present set up on my 260Z).
