BillZ260
Wasn't sure if I'd get everything I needed to get done yesterday and today but I did! Replaced the Master Cyl (swapped up from 3/4" to 1") Dropped the exhaust Buttoned up the cluth line Cleaned some welds on the exhaust Replaced Oil pan and gasket New dipstick I it was pretty cold out today but I got on pace after lunch. Got everything buttoned up, test ran it to temp and checked for leaks, only a small coolant leak, maybe at the heater core lines? Need to find, but it's minimal. Dropped her off the J-stands, fired her back up. Clutch issues are apparently worked out, went right in to reverse so I backed her up and drove her around the block! What a rush! Shifts pretty smooth, TONS of power, ZERO traction! It's perfect Still tons to clean up and finish, but mechanically this thing is 95% done. Now to figure out that paint scheme I've been racking my brains on, and the interior... Thanks Hybrid Z I'd have NEVER gotten as far as I have with out you guys! I have some vid, will post it as soon as possible!
JSM
Congrats! I'm looking forward to that feeling. I've had 5 days off so far and the most i've done is clean the crap off the car(s).
BillZ260
Thanks JSM. I was showing my wife the video and she said she'd never seen me smile like that when i got out of the car. I don't know if that's good or bad, but the feeling was incredible. Having something that you've put all this effort into, and actually getting to EXPERIENCE it! Thanks again to EVERYONE here that has helped me move this thing forward to the point that it is. Maybe in 5 more years it will actually be "Finnished"
V8ZRACER260Z
That's a good feeling when all that hard work pays off! Post some pics or video soon. Those of us who are still working on ours live vicariously through those that have theirs running.

dat240zg
Yup. Some guys struggle with shlong envy, I just struggle with running Z envy. Bill: any chance that you might have a short video of the Z running? Bryan

jt1
Good job Bill!!!! Getting it running is a big milestone. If you get down and out a good burnout will make everyting OK!!!!! John
BillZ260
Well, what's sad is that I actually got it running almost exactly 1 year ago to the DAY! I was traveling so much this year, I did ZERO to the far for over 9 months!!! No burnouts yet, but the rear stepped out on my very first run a couple times. My torque curve is going to be murder on those 215/45/17's!
Mikelly
Congrats Bill! I hope to have a similar experience in the not so distant future! Mike
dat240zg
Bill: Well, I sorted one problem to get another. I was getting so ticked off at the car that I had to leave it be for a while - my wife thought that I had cut my arm off or something... I think that the new years day goal may have been a little lofty for me. I had a bunch of parts that I was depending on that got hung up due to new years, so...maybe this weekend. BillZ260
Saturday Morning I got up early(ish), drove as quietly as possible with open exhaust to the muffler shop. They had it for a couple hours and the work was pretty good for the price. They said I can bring it back for any minor adjustments later. Basically what I am running now is the square port shorty headers, 2-1/2" w/ a H pipe behind the tranny w/ turbo mufflers, I really like the sound. Noticing a couple of things that bother me w/ my first runs. I've probably put 10 miles or so on the car (need to hook up that speedo!) The bearings on my NEW CHEAP ebay alternator are screaming so i'll be looking for a solution to that, I'm thinking of getting a bearking kit or something. Also the Holley Red fuel pump is really noisy, anyone notice this? I mounted it in the stock location with the rubber mounting pad but is just too loud. Anyway, driving it home, getting on the on-ramp, this thing really moves! I'm pretty excited that everything is working and holding up after a couple of hard pulls. Also gave my Wife and Little brother a quick ride. Crystal:What is that SCREAMING! (this is after a short WOT in 2nd) ME(With a grin): That is a V8! BillZ260
Put about 10 miles or so on her yesterday. I noticed the motor really starts to pull hard only after about 4-4.5K, dunno if it's the cam or the carb. The car is running very well, and I am extreamly happy with how easy it is to drive around town, how it can litteraly just SCREAM when I get on it (I am really supprised how bad ass those generic turbo mufflers sound at RPM). The only thing that is bugging me is the complete and udder lack of traction through 3rd, and my brakes. I really need to install the adjustable proportioning valve because I don't thing the rears are working at all. Oh and the DRAIN i feel after getting out of the car once the adren stopps flowing!!! he he he
