Not much additional information.

To save the rest of you some time, read the posts from Nero, he seems to be the only one that has any information on it, hard to say how accurate it really is though.

Post #28 seems to have a lot of specific info though. The videos are pretty cool, the car goes like stink.

I *might* be going to a hillclimb in Morwell on saturday. I bet he'll be there. Is there anything you want photos of?

I'd love to see the t-case and diffs, as well as the front suspension.

I would also like to ask him about which items they really are, to dispell the myths, and to look at the feasibility of doing something similar.

OK. So...

I couldn't get photos of suspension, or drivetrain. The entire underbody is covered by an undertray. There's a diffuser on the back, an airdam on the front, and sideskirts. So no photos for you.

I talked to the man himself, Kevin Mackrel. He uses a chevvy V8 6 litre, according to the sticker on the hatch, a transfer case from a Hilux, and a powerglide 2 speed transmission. The chassis and suspension is still all essentially datsun. R200 rear, and R180 front. The hubs... "converted to 6 stud" in his words. The CV's I think are subaru.

So there. It's simple, basic, mechanical, no-bullshit, and fast enough to be kicked out of every dirt-racing event there was, which is why he hillclimbs.

The most interesting think I take away from this is that he runs an R200 on the rear, and r180 front which take the 700+ AWHP (according to dyno). He didn't mention any breakages of diffs.

I didn't get to talk long, but there you go.

If you look around here there is a pic of a Z doing a wheelstand with the nose 5+ft in the air running a R200 diff...

I also think people underestimate the R180 for power capabilities.

With about 30% power to the R180 it should be getting around 210hp.

EXACTLY! The R-180, when used up front in an AWD Z car, should be able handle pretty much anything thrown at it torque wise, even with slicks up front! In a milder street tire shod AWD Z application, I would even consider the R-160 up front. This is really a topic for another thread.

I feel like I missed a thread somewhere. I remember seeing this thing maybe a year back or so doing a 4 wheel burnout at the start of a hillclimb. I haven't seen anything else until this here...

Pretty cool huh? It would be nice if we could talk him into writing up a page or six, detailing first hand, his cars build up and performance in our projects section... wink.gif
