XCYTER
Hi all, got my Z today. Its a 1972 240z / datsun orange/original motor and tranny..great condition. One small rust spot where the hatch meets the deck and one small one behind drivers door/in front of rear wheel. Checked the rest of the car carefully, all good and straight. Got the original title from the original owner...wow what a find. The title is little 5"x5"...i guess they were little like that in california back in 72? Anyway, will be looking into a LT1 swap from an IROC....nice to be here. Great place to learn.

Mexicola
Anyway, will be looking into a LT1 swap from an IROC....nice to be here. Great place to learn. Glad to hear you're eager to start your project, just don't waste your time looking for an LT1 out of an IROC, you won't find one. The LT1 cars were the early 4th gen F-bodies (93-97). IROCs (3rd gen cars) were equipped with 5.0 or 5.7 TPI small blocks. Keep us posted!

Just wondering if it's the same car I saw on craigslist. Tried calling and e-mailing the guy and left phone messages numerous times since december and never got a response. Just wondering if it's the same car. Didn't the IROC come equipped with the L98 350 c.i.d ,not the LS1? I don't recall any IROC Camaro's with the LS1. Either the 305cid (L03, LB9, LG4, or L69 depending on year) or the 350cid L98 through 92'. 4th gen camaro's had the LS1 though, but no IROC option. Although there have been a few guys that have done the LS1 into a 3rd gen swap. The early 4th gen camaros (93-97) that fell between the last IROC (1990) and first LS1 camaro (1998) had the LT1 option available. Nice job on the engine codes Twistit, I actually had an LG4 IROC - probably the worst powerplant ever put in an IROC.

Got it from a guy in California that needed the cash. Went up, looked at it and bought it right there. As far as the LT1....Im rethinking that as the block is cast w/ aluminum heads. Yes the LS1 is the way to go because of its all aluminum, compact, powerful, reliable features but SO EXPENSIVE!!! SO we will see. Im in the planning phase right now. Thats why I went LT1, I picked up a whole wrecked but drivable 94 Z28 for $1500.

How much heavier is the LT1 setup over the original motor? Im still considering it but would relocate battery, use aluminum everything to keep weight down. -X
