big-phil
A couple weeks ago while changing heads on my car I dropped the cam chain tensioner and it took these (2) tools to get it back in with out taking the front cover off. I tell the truth:ass:
Titus_RacerX
I got a spot I just can't reach. Can I borrow that thing?
OlderThanMe
Can you explain how you did it? I'm guessing the screwdriver was used to push the tensioner back into place. What was the coat hanger for?

What was the coat hanger for? the coat hanger pulled it up, while the screw driver pushed it in. It only took two hours. Again, I tell you the truth......two hours. I almost gave up. I tell the truth:ass: That lower tool-the bendy one, not the one with the handle-is one of the most used tools in my box. I've used it for a lot of stuff. I'm worried though. It's almost worn out and I can't find another one in any of the local tool stores to replace it. I don't know the proper name for it or I would search the internet. I don't know, maybe I could borrow Phil's anc just forget to return it. Mike
cygnusx1
Reminds me of the time I was switching to high performance cams on my DOHC Alfa Romeo. I dropped a wave washer down the front of the motor and it fell into the oil pan somewhere. The Alfa oil pans are weird shaped, but aluminum. I tied a magnet to a strong string and fished around for about two hours down the front cover. I finally caught it on the magnet. Sometimes the right tool for the job is in the pile of crap waiting to be made.
big-phil
ha ha ha, its funny I kept thinking I was in for it. That front cover was going to have to come off. I was so pissed! What I did wrong was I turned the motor over by the crank bolt just a little bit to get it on zero of TDC. Then "ping" my other screw driver that was holding it in slipped, and out she came.
