qwik240z
German Parking Garage This is pretty amazing! Can you imagine how all this operates? How do they lock each car in its cubicle for safety? WHO CARES. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COULD GET IN THERE. Talk about German efficiency! The two photos below were taken at a new parking garage in Munich . The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US . Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also 'retrieved' in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant. SteelToad
It is very cool, but its not a parking garage in Munich, it's the Volkswagen storage facility in Wolfsburg http://fuzzz.gaulin.ca/2006/07/29/vw-parking-garage-silo/ They should offer rides

Bartman
Very cool, but I don't think the design would work well for a regular parking garage. It looks like there's a miaximum of two cars being stored or retrieved at any given time. There could be quite a line when it gets busy. TrumpetRhapsody
You'd have to have multiple elevators, with multiple exits. Could get tricky. Maybe one elevator per 20 car section or something.
Montezuma
They have that kind of garages all over Japan. I think they are a great idea. I think it would be a great idea for long term parking at airports.
Z-TARD
looks cool with compacts. Try that with a 79 Lincoln or Dodge Mega Cab 4x4......
TrumpetRhapsody
I just realized.... I hope that's track or belt driven. I sure wouldn't want to be the one to have to back the car onto that thing. Twould suck big time if you missed...
Globerunner513
by the shadows, and lighting, it looks like its a window the cars face towards. not much of a place for a person to get to, so i'd imagine it's automated of some kind. Haha, but imagine having to drive onto that for the first time at those heights!
hoov100
looks like it has wheel chocks in the back to push the car forward and lock it on the platform.
