RaGnaR_RattmuFF
Hello! A datsun 240z with a 280zx Engine (petrol) Sounds like a Diesel. There has been a valve justment so its not the valvs that sounds bad. Can it be the Injectors that sounds like this? Brad-ManQ45
The slight ticking sounds like injectors - the clatter is something else entirely.... Are you sure you don't have a bad pully or time chain tensioner? Have you put your ear to a (long/large) screwdriver to determine where the clatter is coming from? gwnwar
Was it making the noise before the valve adjustment?? It sounds like valve noise.. Do a cold adjustment on them.. What are you setting them to?? Is oil up to full.. is oil getting to top end??
Armand
When I had my carb'd L28 with the hood open the engine totally sounded like a diesel at idle as well. I know it had a mild cam, but I have no idea if there was anything else done to it.
