kiwi303
Looks like a KL60 series to me, age is right too. Probably the P series I6 engine 3.9L and GOBS of torque, other than the P series I've only seen diesels and RB30's on old patrols here in NZ. johnc
Its got a basic large displacement pushrod 6. Revs to 5,000 rpm but that's really not necessary. I owned a Patrol just like this one when I lived in Lake Tahoe. Top speed was 45 mph, its was loud, rough riding, cold in the winter and hot in the summer. It could climb anything until the carb flooded and then you better look over your shoulder and start steering because the brakes wouldn't hold it on a steep hill. Tony D
My wife would shoot me if she even knew I was looking at this thread! My dad saw a photo of one of these Patrols in my photo albums and said basically the same thing JohnC just did, prefaced by 'That looks just like the jeeps we had in Korea!' ben280zx
Wow, I would though it's be a good idea to have, but since Johnc say it rough then, I'll pass on this, but it does look and sounded cool straight from the factory. johnc
Its a basic off road utility truck like the old Land Rovers, Land Cruisers, and Jeeps. A step up from a tractor. Later Patrols got much nicer.
slownrusty
A step up from a tractor. John you crack me up! Yasin
datsun79z
Ben; This could be a good find if you are into self abuse. My father had one of these when I was in high school during the 60's. I remember it being slower than the 2nd coming of Christ. With the tires and manual steering you had to have the arms of a gorilla to park it. I don't remember it being much of a Chick Magnet either. The coolest thing about it was that with the use of a snorkel you could drive it under water as the electrical system was water tight. HowlerMonkey
Just saw a 1960s pontiac OHC six out of a lemans. If anybody's really adventurous, it might be pretty cool and complete at abc u-pull in west palm for about 150 bucks.
