icapture
building the SR now. Looking into wheels. No clue what I can get away with when it comes to size. I would like 16's, but not sure on width. also, i would really like to have a nice step up lip in the rear, something with classic style. any ideas where i should look? Love rota's, but the widest they go is like 8"
aziza z
Are you planning on fitting coilovers? Cause that buys you some space for wider wheels. Some members have put 9.5" wheels under stock fenders with coilovers (those were 18" though). Also if you want really wide wheels theres always flares.... Evan Purple240zt
Wheel width is meaningless if you run a hard tire. Tire is everything, so don't cheap out!
icapture
oh im definitely throwing flares on. love the look. and im throwing coilovers on as well. do i need 10" rear wheels for 400hp? or could i go not as wide and be fine? my issue is that its hard to find a 16 wide wheel thats 5 lug and not 500 a wheel
Clifton
It's not the HP, it's the torque that breaks, twist, destroys parts, spins tires, ect. Being that this is a 400hp 2L, torque won't be a problem. You would probably be ok with an 8"/245. As Evan Purple240zt said. Tire compound has alot to do with traction. LLave
The smallest diameter that will get the job done in the largest width you can reasonably fit.
WizardBlack
A warm, sticky 225 tire will probably handle it and certain cold, hard 285 tires won't. 10" is pretty wide for 400hp/350 ish torque. Unless, of course, your tires aren't that great, your suspension/alignment is poor, etc.
