tightywhitey185
Does anyone know what the average price for a tank and regultor should cost?My local supply told me a tank and regulator will cost me 250 for the tank 90 for the regulator and 27 to fill the tank.Do i just bite the bullet and do it or is this rediculious?I couldnt find any but one on ebay.I have a really old tank that went on an accetaline torch that stands about 4 ft tall. Can i just get that one filled with argon/co2 or are the tanks gas specific? hughdogz
I think that may be a bit high...I remember paying ~150 for an Argon filled 4 foot tank. I get most of my welding supplies from Quimby Then I got a "shorty" 2-3 footer refilled with 75-25 for 45 bucks. The regulator (to me) seems like it might be too pricey, but I'm not the resident expert... Hope this helped.. Later, -hughdogz
240hoke
Just rent one, if you use it a bunch its a good route to go I think. You dont usually get to keep "your" tank anyway you just swap it out from one of theirs. I use the small 80's and they cost right around 20 bucks at NWS

Slow_Old_Car
i think your paying for the bottle on the contigent that it's never coming back. i just bought two of the 4 foot bottles of argon, each one took a $250 deposit plus the actual fills. sounds about par to me. JMortensen
Last time I swapped them out I was told that the price of the tanks has doubled in the last year or so. I believe it, as the other steel I've purchased recently was also really expensive. I think the regulator is probably worth it. The regulator that came with my Miller welder lasted exactly one usage, it basically leaked straight out of the box. My replacement was about $100 and still functions correctly years later. mikeatrpi
I bought my bottle online from IOC on EBAY. A few years ago. It was a 40cu ft tank and cost under $100 shipped. When I went to exchange, they bumped me up to a 60 cu ft tank and I only paid the fill difference. I generally pay around $40 to exchange this 60 cu ft cylinder. ben280zx
Or you can do what I did. Get this tank: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&item=390011549638 find a supplier and fill it without exchanging it. But a used regulator for about 30 dollar(it vary). and you're set around 100 dollar compare to 250 from that store you went to. Hope this help.
