fl327
naw, bolt up the slicks and let er rip, odds are halfshaft may go, but ive heard of people running 11s with slicks , auto, and half shafts. mind you, your getting power down, and almost everything starts becoming suspect. Doug71zt
I have an r200 lsd 3.7 / z31 turbo CV's in my 240 with a l28et. Best 60' time is 1.71 with 245/50/16 Nitto drag radials. No bad noises, or broken parts -yet- when launching at 3500-4000.
stony
doug what year z31 did you get the cv axles out of? and if it was an 88 how did you adapt them?
Andrew Bayley
Curtis, Low 12's / High 11's will not destroy an R200. What may potentially break are the half shafts. I've run a handful of 1.60 sixty foot times with 275/50/15 BFG Drag Radials on OEM U-jointed half shafts. The key point to consider is the U-joint angles. If running stock, or lowering springs; the half shafts will be more prone to breaking under heavy loads. A U-joint does not have the "Constant Velocity" that a CV joint has. What this means, is that the further the u-joint is angled, the more velocity differential it experiences. I'm a believer that a U-joint can be stronger than a CV axle. However, keeping the U-joint flat is a problem unto itself. Good luck! -Andy
pparaska
Besides the half shafts, the stub axles, and especially the 240Z ones, become the weak link, not the R200.
