sickboy
Does anyone have any first hand experience with minimum clearances between slicks and strut? I'm running Goodyear 23x9 R15 slicks, also run Hoosier 23x9.5 R15s. Both tires are pretty stiff. Trying out some new wheels with a bit more positive offset. JMortensen
I had interference with the strut and added a 1/4" wheel spacer, so after the spacer probably 3/16" clearance and never rubbed. This was with Yokohama A005s. I think they're stiffer than the GY and not as stiff as the Hoosier, based on the descriptions I've read of all 3. sickboy
I've got about 5/16" in the rear. Fronts are about 1/8". I'll bring the 1/4" spacers with tomorrow but I'll do a few laps first to see if I get any contact in the front with an 1/8".
jt1
In my experience you need at least 1/4". Sometimes you will see a little touch at that, but not enough to hurt anything. jt
heavy85
Hoosier 23x9.5 R15s. I run those with no problems. 15x10" rims with 4.5 or 5" offset I dont remember which. Cameron
katman
Well it depends on aspect ratio and sidewall constuction/stiffness but I'd want 3/8 min. You might get away with 1/4. You'd be amazed at how the contact patch pulls even the top of the tire inboard under hard cornering.
sickboy
I ran it yesterday at Arroyo Seco Raceway. Very tight, twisty track. With the Goodyear slicks on the new wheels I had about 1/4" in the rear and 1/8" in the front (clearance from the strut). I sprayed a little paint on the areas where it would have rubbed so if it even barely touched it would be obvious. I brought spacers but never needed them, no issues. I was hoping that would be the case. Post some pics of the new wheels mounted, they look great tucked in like they are now.
