1 fast z
It takes ALOT of force to snap one! I bet all of your others are over stretched and junk also.
WizardWorks
Its the center bearing cap bolt, L28. Should I replace all the bolts, better yet are there even sets that you can purchase available?
1 fast z
Was your torque wrench just out of calibration or? Yes you can buy new bolts, from a bolt store. Or you can buy studs.
ezzzzzzz
If you buy standard bolts don't go to your local Lowes or Ace Hardware. They sell crap chinese hardware. Find a fastener supplier and order good 'American' hardware. Your best bet is going with Nissan parts from Courtesy. There's also ARP. Im building a stroker engine using a diesel block and P90 head. No one makes a set of head bolts/studs for that application. ARP wanted, get this, $1029 for a custom set of 14 studs! I went to a local supplier (owned by a friend) and ordered 14 12.9 12mm socket head bolts for less than the cost of 1 ARP stud.

FYI, the LD28 diesel main bearing cap bolts are one grade stronger than the stock L28 ones.
woldson
FYI, the LD28 diesel main bearing cap bolts are one grade stronger than the stock L28 ones. Umm they will fit my L28? It dose seem that is what your saying, just a VERY cool tip and wanted to double check:)

WizardWorks
Do these bolts need to be grade 12.9 or will 10.9 suffice?
rsicard
Do these bolts need to be grade 12.9 or will 10.9 suffice? WizardWorks: Strongly suggest going to ARP Main Bearing Studs. They will SAVE the threads in the engine block. I used Blue Loctite for the block portion of the studs.
junglist
Umm they will fit my L28?It dose seem that is what your saying, just a VERY cool tip and wanted to double check:) yes they do fit for sure. The diesel main bolts are what I used for my build....they use approximately 20 lb/ft more torque than the non-diesel bolts. I have the specs in my build binder somewhere if you want them. I think I got mine for $45 total from Courtesy.
