Arif
I have a custom driveshaft and a stock sway bar. My driveshaft is hitting my sway bar under hard acceleration or downshifting. So I pulled out the sway bar and the knocking went away. My question is what can expect while running the car with the rear sway bar? Has anyone done this for an extended period of time? RB26powered74zcar
I've had mine removed for the past 5 yrs due to CV interference, w/o any noticeable difference, while only street driven...
buZy
Never had one for years. Then I tried a rear facing bar. It made a very noticable difference keeping the tracking straight at freeway speeds. I should add I am not running cv's.
doublexl240z
Huge front bar and no rear bar is the hot ticket for most of the race cars (Zs) out there.
jerryb
The early 240s never had rear bars. I installed a 280 bar on my 240 and recall the back end wanting to slide out on the track. When I installed my CVs I took it off and never missed it.
Clifton
If the car was nuetral before it will push now. If it pushd before it will really push now. If that's the case you could bumo up the rear spring rate a little. If it is just a street car it doesn't really matter.
Drax240z
I've been running a largish front bar and no rear bar for years on the autocross track... YMMV depending on the rest of your setup though.
Arif
Thanks guys. I ran it on the street with no issues so I think I'll leave it off for now. I did a search and found out that the Suspension Technique rear sway bars are routed differently and thus eliminate the problem I was having. mpavolka
When I purchased my 280z it had large aftermarket front and rear sway bars. I took the rear one off and it handled better for autocross. I ran it like that for about a year. I do believe it handles better now with a large front one and stock rear, however you should be fine.
