dyno run stats.. need some pointers

guys, i took the z to the dyno today , here are the #'s i put down.

my set up is the Jwt z31 ecu / ford cobra maf on the stock injectors. I run a z31 watercooled turbo @ 11 ish lbs. a 240 sx throttle body w/ msa custom 2 1/2 d/p all the way back to borla pro x/s muffler.

I don't run an intercooler yet, but that's my next step.

my best run was @ 10 lbs.

my question is ,, when i cranked the boost to 15 lbs, the engine took it, but based on the read out, i lost hp because the engine was running rich... would i stand to gain h/p if i kept running 15 lbs and put an adjustable fuel pressure regulator in line with the stock one ?

also, any pointers to help me comprehend the information here as i am still learning all the turbo info.

thanks.

I believe the stock injectors are won't be of much use after 12 or 13 psi. And since your running the JWT ecu you would have to have it re tuned if you swapped the injectors. Nice numbers btw.

+ 1..you do not have enough injector for 15psi. I had every bolt-on on a Z build from Walbros to Aeromotive FPR to custom exhaust to big intercooler and at 12psi was the limit on the stock injectors.

Great torque numbers and there is no reason you cannot run a larger injectors with the JWT set-up, after having the ECU reprogrammed accordingly to match.

Good luck - Yasin

Yasin and Young I was @ 15 lbs , and i didn't run out of gas on the stockers..

the jwt allows you to run up to 250 is hp with the stock injectors . from my understanding on the results , i was running too rich @ 15 lbs. .. the dyno tech suggested that i check to see if using an adjustable fpr after the stock fpr to see if it would keep me from running so rich on 15 lbs..

does the make sense ?

i do plan on moving up to the higher cc injectors, and it will require a reflash on the ecu.. however, I think i can tap more hp/ torque from this setup once i pop in my yasin custom intercooler. (thanks yasin ) ..

Thats the problem with the JWT stuff. it runs too rich as a safety precaution and not enough timing to boot. they are really covering thier own asses to make sure engines running thier ECUs dont blow up.

There was a thread on one of the big 240sx forums about a guy DYNOING a JWT ECU and a hacked MAF set up BACK TO BACK with the same boost, same everything and the hacked MAF (A really ghetto mod) made about 20lbs/ft more in the tq department from 3500rpm to 5000rpm. hacked MAF vs JWT ecu

got intercooler?

I saw no mention of an intercooler, with no intercooler the more boost you run the higher the intake temps and the less oxygen you get per psi, I suspect you'd find mroe power with a cooler intake carge, I mapped mine with megasquirt before and after intercooler, I was hitting 220 intake temsp without and intercooler, a cheapo ebay intercooelr got my temps down to abotu 120, and abetter treadstone intercooler got my temps down to around 100 degrees
