cygnusx1
Wow, he was a REAL newsman. Not like the ditzy, hyped up, glory slingers of today. I remember watching him on my parents click turn dial Zenith TV. Who needed a remote when channel surfing was more like stepping over a puddle. Just a few channels, rabbit ears, and tin foil. He was easy to listen to, and you always remembered what he said. I think I was just old enough to reach the channel dial. RIP.
Guest Rolling Parts
And that's the way the cookie crumbles. RIP.
MAG58
He was way before my time, but he was still one of the best news reporters I've seen.... RIP
zcarnut
Growing up in his heyday my father would allow the family to watch only Walter at the evening news times. The only time he mentioned a celebrity was to report that they had died. Modern TV journalists should heed his (paraphrased) words: “Tell the people what they need to know, not what they want to know.†
