jerryb
So Toyota has decided tp enter the Super car scene with this high $300K ride. Considering this will be a flagship Im surprised it looks so much like a 350/GTR/Astin Martin/Porche mix. Especialy the front grill opening.....that screams 350! Im sure it will be a well built car but I cant help but consider the styling as knock-off lame. I also believe the price point a "bit" high. Too bad....I dont like the direction that Toyota is taking with current styling efforts...and this sure wont change my mind. As far as performance goes...no biggie either....R8, Z06 or GTR...or Ferrari...much better deals. http://www.roadandtrack.com/assets/download/1209_2011-Lexus-LFA_specs.pdf Has Toyota lost it way? Guest Rolling Parts
A Ferrari 599 is in that price range. A Toyota Lexus is nice, but for that price you could get an Avalon and 2 years worth of hookers and be even happier.
rturbo 930
It's supposed to be $300k?! I saw this a few days ago and expected it to be in the <$100k range like the GTR is. The specs they give are pretty impressive, but not $375k impressive. I don't think it'll sell well.
m4xwellmurd3r
The big question everyone is going to ask, for the price that thing costs is: "can it beat a ZR-1 on the nurburgring"
datsun723
The big question everyone is going to ask, for the price that thing costs is:"can it beat a ZR-1 on the nurburgring" The ZR1 is a fast and relatively "cheap" car. You get a lot for the money. My opinion is that this car is merely to show the world that Lexus is planning to do some radical things in the future and this is just a sample. They are LOSING money on every one of the 500 they are selling. With Toyota's new CEO, expect some pretty sweet cars in the coming decade. He is an avid car enthusiast and knows what Toyota is capable of. It kind of does remind me of the 350/370 but the rear end is gorgeous imo. And you can't beat the sound that comes out of that 4.8 V10
rvannly
I wouldn't mind seeing it on the road though. At least they're still thinking about performance as a company. Then again check this out: http://zilvia.net/f/off-topic-chat/285902-toyota-blames-video-games-decline-auto-sales.html So what direction are they going for? Or shows you their need for change. Then again check this out: http://zilvia.net/f/off-topic-chat/285902-toyota-blames-video-games-decline-auto-sales.html ............................... "I am in the honest belief that japanese auto makers need to follow suit to some of the exotics and offer a strip down race version of their sports cars much like the GT3RS and the Lambo Gallardo Superleggera, I know I am not the only person that would love to see a revamped Silvia or the New FT-86 with a cage from the factory simply just two race seats, a good motor, rwd or awd, and a LSD. How simple is that? Seriously if they could bring the FT-86 in that format in a stripped down model with just the necessities it would sell like hotcakes. I know we have the Evo RS but really they didn't take it far enough I feel." Something in what was said above I think, Porsche have been doing stripped out sports/racing cars for years, look at the profits they make. Can't work out why the mass producers like Toyata and Nissan don't do the same using say 90% standard parts, the rest special. 370Z would be an excellent candidate for 'the treatment'. m4xwellmurd3r
imagine a GTR built like that. stripped out to the bare essentials, but keeping the high tech computer gear completely gutted and everything. that would be insane. The 370z i agree would be a great candidate
