dandingo
Hey guys, I just picked up my first Z. 1986 300ZX Turbo. This car is amazing to drive. I had never driven one and was blown away when I took it for a test drive. Needless to say, I had to have it. Here's a quick teaser... I have a quick question. I hear a fairly prominent ticking coming from what I believe is the auxiliary air control valve. It comes and goes but is pretty constant. Has anyone else experienced this before? Thanks in advance! Edit: I put a screwdriver up to the AAC valve and it is where the ticking sounds most prominent. Also, there is no ticking when cold started in the morning and the idle is high. It only happens once the RPMs drop...
roger.svoboda
might be gunked up. you might take it off and clean it up with carb cleaner or other solvent. it is sort of an electrical solenoid. Or get a stethoscope and see if that is really what is clicking.
dandingo
Here's a video... It doesn't sound dangerous, it's just very annoying. Please let me know if you've heard this sound before.
Mikez31ss
Try unplugging the connector to see if that's really what is making the noise. I didn't hear anything unusual but a lot of audio gets lost in a youtube vid.
hoov100
Sounds like valve train.
BLOZ UP
I would say your mistaken and it's an injector (or 6), but it's hard to tell from the video. Unplug it, like Mike said above. See what happens. Or hear what happens, I guess. Turn up the boost, then it comes alive. They are "normal" on stock boost. Like Honda Civic normal.
