DEVIL-Z 1973
Ok so I checked out Watanabe's site the other day and thought I would hit them up through email for a quote on some custom 17 inch R Type wheels for my 240Z project. Well of course as you know their email doesn't work so I decided to give them a call. I ended up talking with Enari Kiyotaka, a representative for the California shop. I told him what size I was wanting and he said that they don't have 17s available right now. I asked him if they could be custom made and he told me that he would hit up the main office and see. We traded personal emails with one another so he could contact me with the info. Apparently the only way the main office will supply him 17s to sell is if I ordered 100 sets, (ha... not happening, 4 is expensive enough)which I then told him there is no way that happening but told him I really really wanted them in 17s or I wouldn't buy a set. So he hit up the main shop again. They told him that if he could find 25 PEOPLE that buy 4 wheels in 17 inch they would supply him with 100 sets. So...I am here to ask anyone serious enough that is truly wanting 17 inch Watanabe R Type wheels, to PM me so I can make a list. Now the catch is that we have to decide on the 2 different setups of the wheels. I was thinking 17x9 and 17x9.5. The offset has to also be decided as well. So please give me some feed back on 1. popular wheel width as well as offset so we can agree and get these wheels ordered. Again PM me if interested in getting 17s. Thanks for your guys time and help.

19762802+2
I say go with the same offset as the Rota group buy, its proven it fits and then there isn't a huge dispute on offset. But good luck finding 25 people this would be awesome. I'm sure there are some other car forums that would be really interested in this like the 240sx guys and etc.
LoneStarS30Z
As a former 240sx owner, I'd say you'd be lucky to get atleast 2 of them to pony up for a set. They (me during that time too) are cheap by nature lol.
Tony D
I got my 14X10's and 14X9.5 Wats... No need for 17's. Good luck, this is a tall order in the world of bottom-feeders.
DEVIL-Z 1973
Yeah its pricey. I mean when Enari gave me a price for 16x9.5 it was estimated for all 4 wheels at $2,810. So you get the idea for custom 17s. He also told me he sponsors Formula D Drifter, Taka Aono and he asked for a set of 17s. He also said that there is a lot people in Australians in the import scene wanting them as well. So I figured I would hit up Viczcar.com to drop the subject. I got already 12 people on the list. KnightoftheRound
Good luck! 16s are big enough for me. Curious about how much each set will cost, considering they already cost close to 3k shipped for regular ones.

Agree... the 17" R-Type (when made) will look retarded I think... personal opinion
bjhines
I have a set of Rotas 17x9.5 all 4. They were cheaper than the tires. I wish they had different offset(they need 5" backspacing). The rotas stick out too far with anything more than a 245 width tire on the front with ZG flares. I would need some wide flares to mount anything wider than 245mm on a lowered race car. 17" wheels have the widest choices and best priced tires, especially for track use. 15" and 16" are very limited and track tires are super expensive.
