rossman
I was cleaning up my valve cover and noticed that the sealant around the edges of the breather baffle is chipped and crumbling. I scraped it all out so I can replace it. It looks like epoxy but I wanted to check here to see if anybody knows for sure. Will regular two part epoxy work? Cheers, Ross
Tony D
There was a Nissan Sealant Specification for that stuff. It's the same that's on the exterior hose fitting. "Permanent, yet removable" Any Epoxy will need to be heat/oil resistant. I have used Aluminum Devcon for machinable structures in that area. As long as it's CLEAN and no oil is in the pores whatever you stick it to will stay stuck.
Nelsonian
I'm in the same boat as I removed the inside baffle, blasted, then properly cleaned. Now need to apply that aluminum devcon, thanks for the tip Tony D....
rossman
thanks for the tip Tony D.... +1 It looks like the stuff may have also served as a secondary back-out prevention for the screws that hold the baffle to the cover.
