Delasangre4231
Trying to pull plugs to check em. But there is a ton of crap in there. Fir needles and dirt. How do I get this stuff from around the base of the plug out before I pull the plug? Is it going to be really really bad if I get a few fir needles in the hole? Mikez31ss
Brake cleaner works great. He's talking about the "wells" which is what some of us call them. The plugs in a VG30 are tucked away in a small recess that attracts dirt, twigs, small bits of hardware etc. Your first answer was the best suggestion. In a pinch a leaf blower might work Try to loosen up the crap as much as possible with a screwdriver or ice pick then hit it with a leaf blower... BunnySlippers
Take it to a car wash and use the pressure nozzle there. it should be all dried up by the time you get it back home.

ctom24
man i'm having the same problem with my #1 spark plug... still haven't been able to get it all out enough to even get the socket around the plug
ctom24
i ended up taking a wire coat hanger, cuting it, and smashing the cut end flat and then bending it up to make a little spoon to pull whatever was stuck around the plug out and that worked great. Delasangre4231
Sounds like a good idea, I made the mistake of only getting about 90% of the crap out before removing the plugs...
