turbojohnny
the throttle linkage ended up not working, so I had to use a cable... at around midnight we finally got most everything sorted out, the car fired right up and it now moves under its own power

turbojohnny
the last 16" of the exhaust is only temporary, to keep it quiet for now. I'll finish it all the way out the back in the spring. Edited November 11, 2010 by turbojohnny
GOTHALOSISM
Wow not much ground clearance there.
turbojohnny
well my 700r4 lost third and fourth gear, looks like it's time to find that t56
turbojohnny
also had to replace the edelbrock carb I had on the motor, bought a new Holley...
turbojohnny
also as far as ground clearance goes, this exhaust is temporary. I'll be building a full length exhaust in the spring. we built what we could with the pipe we had on hand, we came up a little short. so I had to put mufflers on it to quiet it down. chunk
Sounds great! What was the change from the edelbrock to the holley carb like? You had a really good chance to compare the two.
turbojohnny
the difference was night and day, but the problem with the edelbrock was that the secondaries weren't opening at all. something with the linkage was broken. so at higher rpm's the motor just bogged way down from running so rich. I love the Holley carb. not only does it look good but it runs like a champ.
turbojohnny
workin on a little bit of the exhaust lately...
jhm
Nice-looking exhaust....more unique than the more common dual setup. I've always been partial to the looks of center-exit exhaust systems. Glad to hear the Holley solved your intake problems.
sq_creations
I really dig the exhaust. Nice work!
Pyro
for the throttle, i recommend you take off the gas pedal and weld a short piece of angle iron on the end of the pedal rod (under the dash). then put the carb cable of the end of that. This way the cable will have a straighter shot to the carb linkage. I have done this on 2 different v8 conversions and it works much better than snaking the cable to the carb. However, you will need to drill another hole in the firewall to pass the cable.
turbojohnny
I already ran my throttle cable. like 3 months ago. lol, but thanks.
