Gigantor
With my most recent purchase, the previous owner included a spare diff all boxed up. I paid no attention to it at first. However today my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to open it up. I was suprised, I hadnt noticed the japanese lettering on the side with "NISSAN" on the box before. I opened it up, and it was a brand new R200 still in the original NISSAN packaging. Now my 2 questions- Is there any way besides turning the and counting the number of times the axels spin to determine the gear ratio (Based on this method I guesstimate a 3.54)? Or are there specific markings? Also, what would a fair asking price be for this? I am more interested in a 3.9 for my project. It will defined as a fraction.

JMortensen
It's actually a ratio, not a fraction. will be like 39:10 or 37:11, which is the ring count and pinion count. Divide it out for the ratio.
Gigantor
Ah ok, thanks. Can anyone suggest what a reasonable asking price would be? I've looked all over, and the only places I've been able to find them new/rebuilt are retailers asking $1k plus. I don't expect NEARLY as much, as I know these aren't hard to come by at all. 240zRacer
if it has the lsd its worth more but if its a 3.54 open they are a dime a dozen, i have even thrown them away rather then have laying around getting in the way. i sold a 3.54 with lsd a few months ago and only asked a few hundred bucks for it.
