Now that is some promising news, thanks man. What do you guys think about a 225 45 on a 9" wheel? Not ridiculous stretch, might be enough to fit the fenders though.

According to miata driver its very minimal and lot of them use that setup on a track.

Well 9 inches is 228mm and 9 inches is usually to the outside of the rim so a 9 inch rim is closer to 8.5 between the beads so 225 is definitely doable and since I'm guessing you will be going with a 16" rim you would probably have a 50-55 side profile which helps make the stretch not seem as bad and give you slightly more protection if you buy the right style of tire, such as Falkens which have a pretty beefy bead protector.

Here is a 15x10 with a 225/50 Kuhmo and its not that excessive of a stretch, but it would be the limit that I personally would do.

Thanks, that is really helpful. I was looking at toyo tires possibly, falkens too. My only worry with 50 profiles is clearance; I feel like 45s would fit a little better.

That would probably work fine as well, I mentioned the 50's because they are a more common size, I'm not sure if falkens or toyos make 225/45/16 I would check tire rack for options or go talk to a tire shop because I believe you can get tires the size you want from the factory but it takes longer to get them. With 50's you would be about 5mph faster then what your speedometer said and with 45's you would be spot on.

There are some choices for 225/45/16

Oooo I wish I could run some of those Advan tires from Yokohama haha. The only trouble I think I might run into is finding a set of 205 45s for the front, and 225 45s for the rear. Maybe it's my OCD, but I'd like to run the same set of tires, albeit staggered.

I am also looking at set of these: Toyo Proxes

Hmmm not sure about the 225/45/16 to be spot on the actual speed... Normally, from what I saw, 225/50/16 is the correct size to not change your reading... But anyway it's not that important! I agree that 45 of sidewalls would be the choice you want to make if you want to be sure to avoid the maximum of tyre rubbing

I got a response from the owner, he says that even with a rolled fender, 8.5s with 225 50s rub really bad. If I want a 9" I would need probably a 215 and a lot of negative camber at the very least...

Might be easier to go 8.5 in the rear with 205s, which is what he has upfront.

Did he mention what offset he went with on the 8.5 all around?
