tec280zx
Nothing a grinder and welder can't solve..... :/ Exactly. Now if I can wrangle my welder back from my friend this would go a little faster. Not sure what you mean about the strut angle though. Hard to really tell right now though, I need the longer s14 strut first.
ovenfood
Well the pin that holds the strut onto the knuckle is angled downwards. I'm assuming that would make the strut bush quite stressed, as the strut stands a few degrees more vertical. Hence my original intention to inspect the R33 cradle for fitment. Yea, thats what I thought you were talking about. I might be wrong, but I think the top of the coilover will be where it will angle at. It has a pillow mount. So i'm thinking it should be fine down on the bottom end.
tec280zx
Hey look what I got to fit on the s13 knuckle. Man I swear its like playing with legos sometimes! The caliper sits over the rotor perfectly. Still would need to center it with a couple washers though. Glad I didn't get rid of the z31 stuff. Btw, they are 87 vented rotors with matching calipers. I have no idea how i'll get the ebrake cables to work though...

Looked through every page. His install is obviously a lot more involved. He chose to mod the frame of the car vs. the sub frame itself. I can always go back to stock. His does look prettier though I don't know why he cut up the rear strut towers to be honest. I always thought he did it to use the shorter struts. I'll take my chances and use a longer strut and see if the angle change has any real effect.
ovenfood
I told a friend of mine about this and he was like "I'm throwing a few S13's away" and his S130 needs a rear so i think I'll be watching this thread rather closely. That or you may inspire me to put the R33 rear on his but he wants that for the C110.
tec280zx
I wonder how different the r33 is from the r32 subframe. I believe the r32 is about the same as the s13.
PurePontiacKid
http://www.enjukuracing.com/stance-subframe-conversion-bushing-240sx-s13s14-p-10830.html would these work for the front bushings at all?
tec280zx
I've looked at those, I don't think they are offset enough. Plus you need to move the mount more forward so that the rear mounts line up with the crossmember. I figured it would be easier to start with the rear and make any mods to the front. ovenfood
R32 (Skyline) Z32 (300ZX) S13 (Silvia - 180SX) C33 (Laurel) and A31 (Cefiro) all have a very similar rear cradle from what I have seen all have the struts pitching inwards. The R33 is still very similar but the struts are more vertical. :> Want some pics? I have the R33 and S130 cradle down stairs. :>

ovenfood
Here is some pics I intend on displaying the measurements in a way that makes more sense but this will do for now :> http://s657.photobucket.com/albums/uu298/ovenfood/R33%20and%20S130%20rear%20cradle%20comparison/ Edited April 28, 2011 by ovenfood
ovenfood
Now I compare the pictures there really are not that different. :\
ovenfood
Thats about as much as I can think of measuring. The only thing missing is the R200 long nose diff length. Measured with a tape measure and hopefully minimal parallax error.
tec280zx
Nice pics, just realized you're in Australia, no wonder you got a r33 rear. Get rid of the hicas if you use that. One thing that doesn't make sense is the track width. The difference you're showing is 175mm which equals about 6.9 inches. Just eye ballin it doesn't look to be over 3 inches wider at each side. My s13 is about 3 inches wider total. Might make for some interesting wheel selection then.
ovenfood
R33's are wide cars so I wasn't too surprised. I may get to measure up an S13 this evening, but don't expect pics straight away as its at my mates house :>
ovenfood
Ok so measureed it up quickly and it seams that the pin holes (its all i could get to measure) are all the same contrary to what I had been told :S
tec280zx
that's interesting. So same mounting points, i wonder if the track is the same. I know the s14 has slightly wider mounting points and track width, but very slight difference.
