  1. Thanks, I'm thinking of 16x10 R and 16x8 F w/ ZG flares, I'm still unsure of the backspacing, I don't want to order the wheels wrong...that would really suck
  2. I've been looking with no luck... Does anyone have picture of Diamond Racing Wheels mounted up on a Z?
  3. Another thing to consider when using a ProCharger is the camshaft. Lobe separation plays a big role in cylinder pressures and controlling detonation. With forced induction, you're gonna be way more likely to grenade you're motor with just the slightest hint of detonation. My boss is running a 383 stoker w/ AFR 210cc heads, SRP dished piston, Eagle H beam rods, Eagle forged crank, Edelbrock Vitor JR intake, Holley 650 (prepped by ProCharger), No intercooler, I can't remember the cam specs though. It is a custom grind Comp billet roller. It made 604HP on the ground through a 2004R tranny and Ford 9 inch. At 9 puonds of boost. It's set up to run 14 pounds, no intercooled. The fuel through the carb acts to cool the intake charge somewhat. He fragged the last motor because the cam grind wasn't blower friendly. Had to do with lobe separation.
  4. Keep me posted. I just got my L28 in my '71, but I already want something different. I don't really want to go the SBC route, I'm sucker for exotic stuff. My boss is a SBC nut. He has a 700+ hp, ProCharged 385 in his 70 Nova. He's been twisting my arm to do a nasty small block in the Z. I'm trying to resist. It's hard not to love the sound of a V8. I just prefer the sound of exotic V8s.
  5. Is it safe to assume that nobody has successfully performed a swap with either of these engines is a S30? Is the VK56 a front or rear sump motor? I'd love to do one of these swaps. The 56 is a much better looking engine. Who cares about ultimate power, what about the sound of one of those babies through some race mufflers?! Kinda like the new Jag XK. Nasty
  6. I was thinking of putting my L28 into an old ford roadster (rat rod). I'd love to see the faces of the old timers at cruis nights!
  7. Does anyone know where I can get a decent set of fiberglass front fenders for my '71?
  8. Amazon.com should have the book on Mikunis
  9. I'm sorry that I have to say this, but I don't know why people are so quick to say that tripples are no good on the street. I ran tripple Dellortos for years with no trouble at all. I live in Connecticut and drove the thing year round ( even in the snow) and the thing ran great. You definately have to learn how to jet them and tune them, but once you get them right, they're right. If you don't want to take the effort it takes to tune tripples properly, I would agree that you'd be better off with SU carbs, they're pretty much idiot proof. The tripples are kinda finicky and are very sensitive to float level and fuel pressure. I'd buy a book, which should at least give you some tuning guidelines, buy some jets, emulsion tubes, and take the time to tune them, and you should be very happy with the results.
  10. Hey all. I tried to search this but found nothing. Sport Max (Primax) makes a really nice clean 5 spoke wheel with a staggered fitment. I'm pretty much clueless about offset or backspacing....so can anyone help me? They are available in 17x7 with a 40 offset and 17x9 with a 35 offset. I'm planning on getting a set of ZG flares and coilovers if I have to. Any thoughts?
  11. Hey all. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on one Dellorto DHLA 40? I started rebuilding mine yesterday. Two of them were perfect, but one was totally oxidized. Too bad to repair. I need to find just one badly!! Any help would be great.
  12. I'd be really interester in how much you'd charge too. Any idea on a dry sump? I've got a line on an entire 91 Q45 real cheap.
  13. I just finished building my F54 flat top- P90head combo and I'm getting ready to run it in on a dolly we built at our shop. I'll be running my old Dellorto 40s (I still need to buy air horns) and I'm reusing my old cam (schneider 480/274). My machine shop guy only shaved .070 off the head because that's all he could come up with for the cam tower shims. Hopefully that won't screw up my comp. ratio too bad (I didn't cc the head). I might go with a bigger cam, but I figure I'd save a couple bucks and reuse my old one. Hopefully she'll run good and make a lot of noise! I've got a bit of work to do to the Z since she's been sitting for about 5 years (electrical fire). I'm planning on ZG flares and some sort of wide tire/wheels combo.
  14. I just did the clutch in my 99 2.5RS. There was nothing all that difficult. You can purchase the diagrams on Subaru's web site. Download and print them. I've heard stories of the sleeve around the input shaft wearing down and causing the throwout bearing collar to bind. Your problem is probably due to excessive wear though. I got about 120K out of my stock clutch. I've been told that was a minor miracle. I replaced it with a NAPA clutch. My thoughts are to let the clutch be the weak link in the drivetrain. They're cheaper than trannies.
  15. I should have searched first, sorry
  16. Hey all, Years ago I read about a guy developing a triple SU setup for Zs. He said it worked great. Has anyone heard of this lately?
  17. Has anyone here had wheels widened? I know that it is fairly cheap/easy to have steel wheels widened, but what about aluminum?
  18. Where can I get a set of good air horns for my Dellorto 40's, without spending a fortune?
  19. I don't know if this belongs here or not, but I've got a question. Has anyone ever used hardwood as a carb spacer? This is an old school hot rodder trick. I didn't really like the linkage geometry on my tipple Dell's, so I fabbed up some 3/4" maple spacers. I don't have the motor in the car yet, so I don't know how they'll work. I've been told that they should work just fine. At least they'll smell good when they catch fire!!!
  20. Sorry for jumping the gun. Maybe I was just having a bad day and was being a little edgy. At risk of sounding stupid, I didn't think the p90 was a common choice. On my last motor, I used the n42. At the time (8 years ago) that seemed to be the hot ticket. I read the Datsun Garage web site and figured that I'd give the p90 a go. Thanks for your help and sorry about sounding like a jerk.
  21. Maybe I'm being a little over sensitive. My girlfriend doesn't think you're rude at all.
  22. -JMortensen, I know that I'm new here, but are you rude to everybody here? People ask questions looking for help. Sarcasm is not help. Maybe a little polite direction or redirection is all that is needed.
  23. I've already done the whole thing with having it milled .080, shimming the towers, and using the longer valves. Just in my laziness, I didn't see many posts. I was politely reminded to use the search feature. I feel much better now.
