done the rust conversion coating in the past with marginal results. the rust will eventually reappear (usually 3-6 years). if you want a long term repair, i'd recommend some type of media blast. most importantly be sure to use a catalyzed primer. valspar and/or morton has a product called direct to metal (dtm). if your set on the conversion coating, i'd primer and then fill the pits with a 2 part (catalyzed) spot putty that can be used over primer. the product i use is called half-time. good luck.

I'm also at the same stage you guys are. 72 240Z r33 RB26. My RB came with n1 turbos and O.S Giken twin disk clutch. I bought the motor about two years ago for 2400.00 to my door. seems like a good deal, but I havent heard it run yet. Have lots of NOS parts for my Z. One being a brand new dash, man is it beautiful! If I knew how to put up pictures I would.

If I read this right, the turbo and non turbo 300zx transmission are the same

can the tail shaft housing from a z32 tranny be swaped with a z31 tail shaft housing? I want to get rid of extended external linkage.

Does any one know if an rb20det 5speed will hybrid with a vg30dett, or do i use rb26dett transmission. I bought an rb20det 5 spd on ebay thinking it was an rb25 tranny. I've got an rb26 engine and 5spd combo that i'm putting in my '72 240z
