  1. From watching the Z Therapy video convinced me to harbor any illusions of adapting the TR 7 convertible frame to a Z by myself. Not for the faint of heart but for a craftsman
  2. I am about 75 miles south of Canby. Canby was a farming community in the Willamette Valley but now a bedroom community for Portland. Lot of Rain or overcast. No sale taxes. Homes are sky high in price. High mountains or ocean in about one hour drive. Air is somewhat clean when the grass seed farmers are not burning the fields. There are still places in Oregon where you can still piss off the front porch and lot of old almost rust free Datsuns
  3. Lambo doors !...Finally I can give the old Z an erection
  4. Wonder how one would sound behind Depends when cutting wind ?
  5. Nothing.................. a 5 pound sledge could handle dents and flare fit
  6. This friend got one of those o% balance transfers from Bank of America. A payment was due on a Saturday and he went to a BA kiosk in a super market on that Saturday and paid the payment in cash with a receipt. The next statement canceled the o % and instituted 42% interest plus a late fee. because the cash payment was not officially posted until the following Monday. Bank of America would not reverse decision. Morally bankrupt and philosophically corrupt
  7. I recieved my Spacers from Ross this week. The spacer for a 280Z 4X4 Toyota conversion is 5/16 inch thick and I assume 4 equal stacks of grade 8 washers stacked 5/16 inches high would work for each hub. ^The MMS spacers are light and precision made.
  8. scroll to the bottom of photos to find the Daytons and Goodyear Tires.........http://new.photos.yahoo.com/larryjohnson97438/album/576460762325374938
  9. I purchased a set of Eagle GT Goodyears 26 inch for the front and 27 inch for the rear ie : P235/60R15 and P255/60R15 The Dayton crosslaces are 8"X15" with the rears offset greatly. The wheels came with my Blue Ray GT Engineering (Rod Simpson) now Stable Works kit Here are my pictures of the mounted wheels and tires( click GTO kit and scroll down to see more of my progress and wheels.. If anyone is interested I can measure the offset http://new.photos.yahoo.com/
  10. "goat" was a term that caught on for the Pontiac GTOs. Most Americans at that time in the 60's had little understanding for the initials GTO but knew what 389 cubic inches and a 4 speed coud do in a mid size vehicle. In Oregon "GOAT" was widely used in the early 70s for the Pontiac GTO. Many still have not a clue what a 250 GTO is all about but could probably tell you Carrol Shelby's hat size. In 1966 my buddy had a 66 Pontiac GTO with 4 barrel that would out run his brothers tri power GTO. Interstate 5 was still uncompleted. we were in Wolf Creek Oregon when a white GT 40 with Washington plates tore out of a Shell gas station headed North. We took chase and discovered a woman driver with male passenger inside. We came into the Cow Creek Valley flats doing about 100 mph at 10:00 PM with the GT 40 leaving us until Canyon Mountain. The woman would shift down to third with fire coming out the tailpipes for every curve encountered. I am talking five feet of flame. We laughed all the way down Canyon Mountain and about as close as two cars could get but when the flats of South Umpqua Valley came up..........the white car and occupants were soon gone. We gave up when the GTO's speedometer was buried.
  11. I am still looking for the Dunlop D 65 and 70 Touring tires My Daytons are all 8 inch with the rears highly offset. These were the recomended wheels by Rod Simpson/Pre Stable Works..................26inch for the front and 29 inch diameter for the rear sounds right. I have some 15 x10 inch Halibrand on the rear with 275 x 50 BF Goodrich on the rear and stand at 25 inches and slightly smaller than the wheel well. BF Goodrich seems to still have a wide range of 15 inch tires. .Goodyear has Eagle GT tires in 15 inch @ 26 (P235) inches and 27 (P255) inches. My car will not simulate a GTO that well but I am not ready to put BF Goodrich Radials on it for public consumption or run neon lights underneath.
  12. Times have changed ! What tire recomendations for the 8'X15" Daytons that will conform to the size of the GTO wheel opening ? (a comment by Mr. Goodman would be gladly accepted).
  13. I finally got my grip on a Arizona Z four barrel manifold but the price tag on a Holley 390 CFM may burn my fingers to a crisp. I realize the Holley390 is the one to use,,but they are scarce used and in high demand..Yes, I read the Arizona Z sound advice.......................................But has anyone used a four barrel Edlebrock/Weber or a Carter/Weber four barrel and what did you do to get it to run right. I have a 600 CFM Edelbrock/Weber, a 600 CFM Holley and a 4 barrel Weber/Carter? I have a 280 Z candiate for the manifold and want to use one of the three above carbs until the correct 390 CFM Holley floats my way (real cheap)
  14. Charlie, LOOKS GOOD ! ..................Larry in Fall Creek, Oregon
  15. The junk yard Z is a Black Pearl but it is a rust bucket with one floor panel about gone. Only the rear attachments are left for the deck sun shade and only the mounts for the dual mirrors.'''Larry, Thanx for the info.
  16. My GTO Rhino Blue Ray GT was bought from Rod Simpson. My cross wire 15 X8 Daytons were special ordered by Simpson from Dayton with the proper off sets front and rear for the GTO and cost $400.00 a piece way back then. You may be able to contact Simpson or Dayton about the wire wheels. IF you cannot find anything out , I will measure mine.....PM me for this.... I cold photograph the wheels and rocker panel cover. I also have the rocker panel pieces which would be easy to splash. My Tomahawk kit could use the rocker panel covers and I intended to make a mold this summer among a dozen other things. I will only work with fiberglass outdoors. I have the push button door latch mechanisims (3 sets) made but no chance yet to fit them.
  17. I discovered a black 1978 Datsun in the junkyard I frequent that was brought in today and is fairly intact. Manfacture date is January 1978. The black paint is in the jambs, firewall, engine compartment. I neglected to look on the radiator support for a color code tag. The paint appears to be original in the jambs and engine compartment but the body has the appearance of a re-paint There is no Black Pearl pin stripe decals. All that is left of the dual mirrors are the mounting attachments which do not look like the standard door mirror. If anyone knows what other features to identify this car.....please respond
  18. the Corvette hinges supplied from Blue Ray aka StableWorks fit on the radiator support inside a special definition location in the fiberglass. There is clever simplistic hood adjustment built into the lower part of the hinge bolt that attaches to the radiator support. This is the 2nd bolt closest to the firewall and is fully threaded with one nut on the bottom side tightened against a top side nut with the cap head of the bolt acting as an adustment and stop for the hood. If this explaination is confusing, I can take a picture(s) and place in Yahoo Photos. I have trial fitted the hinges which appear with the adjusting bolt to raise the front of the hood in perfect alignment with the fender line. The frontend is currently off the car
  19. Using a p79/P90 /P90 a on a flat top piston motor will give you 8.8 : 1 CR.....................dished pistons will yield 7.4 : 1
  20. LOL.......................I am on the wrong thread page. Mike go to the "Honda push button" thread and Bill "Y Not" had a set of the Rube Goldberg latch gizmos for sale. As Speedracer sez they are not that complicated (once i am on the right page....is this March or July ?). I decided to pull the door off the Tomahawk z to fit the attachment part that fastens the gizmo to the door and locate the position of the actuating lever. Not much of a throw but probably does not take much to release the Z door latch
  21. Mike.I am still shooting in the dark on these latches. One set is for the GTO and the other is for the Tomahawk Z Cobra. I will look for more Honda trunk latches. The Pacific Northwest does have a few of these CVCC cars and the latches do come avaiable from time to time. I still have to trial fit and trim the mechanisims to a door. I have a junk Z I will take the doors off for this purpose. There were a set of rusted Z doors I scrapped and would have been great to have the section of door skin to fit the latches. Bill Y Not (originator of this thjread) had a set of latch mechanisims for sale. You could contact him.
  22. Here are 5 mock up photos of the latch mechanisim. After I took the pictures, I realized that if the set up was for the passenger side ........... I have the little flat bar on the wrong side this flatbar needs to shortened in length slightly and another hole added to accept the rod that release the Z door latch. The One inch flat bar that attaches with bolts to the car door is not shown. My next proceedure is trial fitting to the door. .... so I can figure out .what is next??????????????????. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/larryjohnson97438/album/576460762325374938 I changed gears and got into welding and fabrication to let my right hand heal. The palm of my right hand has two blisters from the hand held little grinders that were used to smooth and detail out the 240 and Canon intake manifolds for the dual DGV Weber down drafts that I plan to install. I took out the water jackets on both the 240 and Canon manifolds. The downdrafts may not be that great but for a stock 280 motor, they will work and will shine like a new penney. Anyone have some K&N oval (2)filters or a 390 CFM Holley for my Arizona Z manifold ?
  23. Honda push button door lock mechanisim parts photos in Yahoo. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/larryjohnson97438/album/576460762325374938
  24. My GTO thread :http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102048 Camber plate fabrication thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106293 Headlight trim ring fabrication and vice grip beading tool http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104888
  25. I agree with OZ that the Honda latch is the "way to go", due to available fabrication diagrams. As before mentioned, I am in the process of fabricating a latch mechanisim but busy detailing the fuel delivery system on the GTO. When I have the parts cut, I will post on Yahoo.photos.
