  1. Picked it up today. $200 no tax for brand new not even unbolted from the box. Came with the bearing (still in question), alignment tool, all documents with warranty and special Datsun instructions. Never thought I'd find a clutch pretty, but the nice gold finish does look pretty sweet.
  2. Ok well they list the same clutch kit (pressure plate, friction) for 240, 260, and 280. So it should be good then right? Worst case scenario the bearing it comes with won't work and I'll have to spend $ on another one. Not sure if the bearing has to come from Centerforce of if I can just go get an OEM spec one from Napa or something.
  3. Picking up a new Centerforce stage 1 clutch kit tommorrow for a good price. Comes with the throwout bearing too. I know the clutch kit is the same for all the S30 cars, but on their website they list a different part # for the throwout bearings on each different Z. Right now I've got a 240, but am using the 5spd from a 280. Should the bearing work on either? If I have to change the sleeve over can I just take it off of my 4spd tranny and swap it over to the 5spd?
  4. I'm thinking a '94 up Mustang fuel door will be the closest match without having to cut/mould, etc. When I get one I'll let you guys know. There's a guy on here with one and it looks awsome but he has no info on it. Was on the car when he got it. BTW, I'm a Mustang guy too. I've got a '90 LX 5.0 coupe. I've got one of these fuel doors for that too but it's a square. Maybe I should see how it looks on the Z.
  5. Did you end up selling the turbo monster? New car is looking good. Sell me any parts you aren't keeping. Sean
  6. Yep that's the cam. I took the rockers with it. If the engine shop tells me I can reuse the cam (with some clean up of course) can I reuse the rockers? I numbered them in the order they came off so they match with the lobes of the cam.
  7. Spoke to Crane and got the spec sheet for it. It's like a stage 2 cam. Good from 2200-5600 rpm. It's got some rust on it (sitting exposed to the elements). Is it possible to polish/derust these things and make it useable?
  8. Went to the wrecker today because my friend said there was a 280z there and I was looking for the hood to put on my 240. Well he's blind because it was a 280zx. But, the head was already sitting in the hatch area so I thought I'd take a look. Head was an N47 which is useless for me, but it had a Crane Cam in it. I've tryed looking and can't find info on this cam so here is what was stamped on it. Any help would be appreciated. Crane Cam (L28) "DA 272-260 (maybe 210, hard to read what I wrote in marker) and below that 68-34 93. Took the cam, the rockers (marked them 1-12 starting from the back of the head), the pivots, and both spring things. I left the valve springs as I didn't have the correct tool to remove them. The cam will need to be cleaned up but for $50 for everything I figured it wasn't a total waste of a trip. I've got 2 motors to build from. I have an L24 with an E88 head, and an L28 with an N42 head. From what I've read there's no sense in swapping the heads around right? I'll be going with triple Webers, 5spd, twice pipes.
  9. I went with Tremclad primer and then paint on my stuff. Went this way for the same issue of powdercoat possibly chipping. I only like to do stuff one time, but I just couldn't fathom spending the time and $ for powerdercoat. If I had a really mint shell to start maybe I'd care more. Also, my car won't ever see winter, and hopefully never see rain.
  10. any more input? My biggest concern is not being able to use the new swaybars I got for the 240.
  11. Can I just swap the entire housing/assembly over? I've blasted, primed, painted my whole suspension, new bushings, bearings, etc. If I can't swap the stuff into the other car I'll just hold out for another 240. Too much time/$ invested in this stuff to just try and sell it off and start all over.
  12. I've had my 240 for a while, collecting parts etc. The shell has some issues and I've been searching for another. A really nice 260 with a built 2.8 has come up at a decent price. I wanted to know if my ST swaybars, Energy Suspension bushings, Tokikos and Eibach will fit the 260 chassis? The part #'s are all different for the 2 cars, so I don't want to get stuck. Should I just hold out for another 240 to change it all over to? Need to know asap. sean_doman@hotmail.com
  13. Looks good. Kind of wish I painted my gunmetal instead of aluminum.
  14. Looking good. I just got the same carbs last week. Any tips? My filters are black, gotta find the filtercharger kit my bro used to keep in the garage.
  15. Fenco makes a good product. I think they're stuff is made up here too. That's a good price. It was $75 for the same part here at Partsource
  16. Can't you just put the new strut inserts in? I rubbed some grease on mine to keep them from seizing up in the future. Should I pick up an hone for further cleaning?
  17. Sportage convertible? I thought it was a small SUV?
  18. I want one in carbon fiber. I'm in the same area as Nigel. When do you need payment? Waiting on a few cheques to come in.
  19. Can I put the later style (pictured) crossmember on my '71 240? Would I have to drill/modify the floor or bracing?
  20. i'm curious to see what a wrecked smart car looks like
