  1. Well we took the first " real" test drive in my dad's 280 today.At first the car didnt seem all that fast. So we took it home to check it out. Come to find out he was only getting about 3/4 of the primarys open and NONE of the secondarys! So we fooled with the throttle stop on the floor and got it to open the cab up 100%. Damn, what a difference, that thing now flat hauls butt and drives great. Now I really need to get mine running .

  4. Scottie, I have had the quicksilver,mega shifter, and the pro stick.I like the quicksilver the best of all of them.Its very smooth and no levers to pull up on.
  5. These mufflers have a 4" body with 2.5 inlet and 2.5 outlet.They are also fully welded and come in stainles steel.
  6. Anyone running the "4 round magnaflows?I was looking at these mufflers at the goodguys show and they looked as if they would be perfect for the z with no trunk hacking. Anyone know how they sound?I am scared I wont like it since I am so used to flow's.
  7. If you want torque and the lope you need to keep the duration in the 280 290 range and a lobe sep angle around 108.

I have a 70 240 with stock struts and no flairs.I want 225/50/15 euro t/a 's on 15x7 Centerline convo pros.Backspacing is 3.5(no offset).The rears are 245/50/15 euro t/a's on 15x8.5 convos with 4.25 offset. If I had to go with coil overs to make it fit in the rear I will do so.What do you guys think?
  9. Turns out that when my dad removed the clutch pedal(went 700r4) he left 2 wires unhooked that he had to undo to get the pedal out. He said that he didnt stick his head under the dash far enough to see the unplugged wires.So when he plugged the wires togrther ,Wala...everything works.
  10. Pops got it runnning today!I am not sure what was wrong but its now up and running. All thats left now is the exhaust!
  11. Me and pops are gonna see if his new motor comes to life.Were are keeping are fingers crossed!I will keep you all posted.

Well my dad attempted to start the 385 z today but ran into some snags.As soon as he put the neg cable to the battery the car motor would try and crank over without the ignition turned on.He is running a electric fuel pump and did what the jtr manuel says to do.He has a 75 280.Any pics on how you wired yours would be a great help to him. If anyone with any knowledge on this could call him that would be thr best.Needless to say he is very frustrated now and in need of help.So any Hybred guys want to help my dad would be great.His number is 209-951-9314.His name is Arnold.Thanks alot!
  13. OK , I know the 274 is sweet all around,but I plan on going to some trick flow 23 degree aluminun heads when possible.Also, if I later go to an 700r4 I figured that it would almost have TOO much bottom end and never hook up.My brain says 274 but my heart says 286...

OK its time to pick the cam and i think I have it narrowed down to a few.The motor specs are 355 sbc/ported and polished 291 63cc heads 1.94/1.5's/air gap intake/3310 holley 750/10.4 comp ratio.I am going with comp cams.Heres the choices: 280/480,286/490 or dual pattern 274/286 with 487/490 exhaust. The tranny is a th350 with 2300 stall.All the cams are 110 lobe sep.Its going in an 70 240.The comp guy said go with the 274 for all around perf.Its rpm band is 1800 to 6000. OK lets here it....
  15. Thats sweet jason! You are about were I am. I bought my dad's 70 240 for 300 bucks that was v8 ready also.I just picked up a stout 350/350 combo from my bro in law for 825!! You cant beat these cars , bang for the buck. Man I wish my jeep build up's were this cheap.
  16. I got my fan a few days ago.It came from an 89 turus station wagon with the 3.8.It has the three large wires(bro/yellow stripe,bro/ orange stripe/ and blk wire).Now how does the fan engage to the second speed?Should I cut the ford connector off?

Me and my father just finished the install of his brand new fast burn 385 sbc in his 75 280z.That motor is sooo nice.Its topped with a 750 demon double pumper and 1.75 Sandeson headers.the tranny is a TPI 700r4 with a b/m prostick.All we have left to do is the exhaust!He is going with car chemistrys inserts with 2.5 duals.Its gonna be nice!
  18. Looks like you guys found out the info so no need to call.From what the fordpower thread said looks like you need to mount them as close to the header as possible. No problem!

Thanks for input guys!No, this isnt gonna be my daily driver.I want it for weekend cruz nites and bracket racing.I know it will lope pretty hard but thats how I like it!I will go to trick flow 23degree heads when the cash flow is up.Also for sure I will put a vac can on to get the brakes up to snuff.Looks like I will go little tighter on the converter now that I am getting these horror storys on the stall units.I cant wait to get this thing going!!!
  21. From what I read on their web site it can be placed anywhere in the exhaust system. I am going to call them today and get the 411.I will be back with the info.

Have you guys heard of the compnay called Car Chemistrys.They sell some inserts that bolt directly to the header collector.They sell them either 2 disc for racing or disc for the street.If these things worked I would not have to cut the trunk up to fit the mufflers.They sell them in Summit on page 178.Let me know what you think.
