  1. They Used Dual Exhausts On The Early 240 Rally Cars. They Ran Side By Side Right Under The Gas Tank And Out The Back. They Used An Extended Megaphone That Was Like 18 '' Long. A Slow Gradual Taper.they Used Two Small Diamiter Pipes To Prevent Loosing Exhaust Scavaging And Tourqe.there Are Old Photos Around Showing Them.
  2. Sounds Like An Air Leak.how Do The Plugs Look Are They Lean? Sucking Air Some Where Leans Out The Mixture And The Revs Go Up.i Had The Same Problem When I Did My Swap And Tightened Up Hose Clamps And Put Safety Wire On All Vacume Plugs Untill The Revs Went Down.
  3. I Didn't Mean To Sound Like A Simpleton. I'll Mic The Bores, Check For Wear And Taper And Determine If I Need A Bore Job.the Block Has About 110k On It But It Came From Fla. And The Turbo Was Eat Up By Sand And Had To Be Rebuilt.i Think With The Oil Use I Have The Rings Are Bad From The Sob Who Let Sand In.i Pulled It Apart When I Got It And Could Still See Factory Hone Marks. I Thuought It Was Ok But It Wasn't.i Was Looking For Advice On Replacement Rings Eather Stock Or If I Over Bore It. I Will Hone It To The Specs For The Type Of Ring.molly, Crome And Iron All Like Different Grit Hones.if Anyone Has Had Good Or Bad Info On Type And Brand I Would Like To Hear About It.thanks In Advance.

  6. one of my turbo injectors is leaking , not the fuel line connection from the rail.I need to replace it. Are there any numbers to distingwish the turbo injecors from the n/a? 280 turbo from 300 turbo?I have a set from a 300 but do not know if they are n/a or turbo.

I Am At About 26 Advanced And Lov,in It.without An I/c Thats About High As I Dare Go.off Boost Is Much Better And It Jumps When The Boost Hits.i,m Runnin 2 1/2 Back To A Magnaflow .not The Best But It Flows All Good.full Boost 10 Lbs At 2700.
  8. I'm Running A Old Maxima Flywheel Which Is The Same Size As A N/a Flywheel But Several Pounds Lighter. I Have A Kevlar Clutch Disc I Got From My Brother-in-law.no Slipping But That Light Flywheel Makes The Car Jump When The Boost Comes On . You Have To Be Very Careful With The Gas To Drive Normal. This Is Only In The First Two Gears, You Have No Noticeable Difference In The Higher Gears.a Stock Flywheel Will Smoth Out The Transition When The Boost Comes On.

  10. Scottie=gnz You Get The Brownie Points.tuneing Was The Issue. I Have A Haynes Manual For Zx's Up To 82. Its Says Timeing Is Stock At 20 Btdc.i Have A 83 Turbo.i Did A Search And Found That An 83 Is Stock At 24 Btdc. After Changeing It To About 24-25 Btdc It Made Drastic Improvements In Response , Power When Off Boost And Much More Tourqe In Mid Range.the Transition From Off Boost To Boost Is Smoother.driveability Is Way Better.how Much Advance Can I Run? 93 Octaine, 10lbs Of Boost, No I/c.i'm At About 3000 Ft Above Sea Level.i Have Positive Boost At 2300 Rpm And A Full 10 Lbs At 2700 Rpm Now.can't Stop Smile'in.thanks For The Suggestions.

I Currently Am Running Stock 83 Turbo Motor And Ecu At 10 Lbs Of Boost.is There Any Advantage To Useing Stock Injectors From A 300z.i Already Have The Injectors And Was Hopeing To Prevent Running Lean On Top Without It Being Too Rich At Low And Mid Rpm. Will The Stock Ecu Control That?will The O2 Sensor Control The Larger Injector From Running Rich And Take Advantage Of More Fuel Flow At 6000-6500pm?
  12. Boost is positive by 2300 and full 10lbs by 3000.lots of tourqe by then. Its just a dog below 3000 compared to a 8.8 compression motor that n/a.In first or second its hits hard at 3000rpm and makes it hard to drive casually in town.If i'm at 2400 in forth and give it some gas it struggles untill about 3000 and takes off.Gts like a small bore two-stoke motorcycle.on or off.Great if you want to play boy racer all the time, but not if you are just driving around in the mountains.I was hopeing that if I ran a higher compression motor I would get better power and response from 1500 to 3000. I would need to lower the boost to keep from knocking of course and loose high rpm power . I' m willing to loose some peak hoursepower to make it driveable when driving casually.How much unintercooled boost can I run at 8.8 compression? I saw the mention of the timing, I have the stock setup from an 83 turbo. I thought it controlled the timing.with the ecu. How much advance should I set it at? /
  13. I Am Currently Running A Stock 83 Turbo Motor And Ecu In A 260. Boost Is A10 Lbs. Power Is Good. However I Dearly Miss The Low End Tourqe I Had With A N/a Motor With Flat Tops P90 Head And Su's.where I Live In The Mountains There Is More Use For Tourqe Than High End Hp.i Am Thinking Of Putting Flat Top Pistons In The Turbo And Running Lower Boost.will This Give Me The Tourqe Below 3000 And Some Better Than N/a Punch On Top?how Much Boost And What Hp?will Compression Alone With The Turbo Ecu Give Me N/a Tourqe?how Much Top End Hp Without An Intercooler At What Boost?need Your Imput. ?

I Have Stock 83 Turbo In An Early 260.running 10 Psi Right Now And Run Tank To Almost Empty And Have Had No Issues.i Had To Put A Stepdown Between The Turbo Fuel Pump Inlet And The Smaller Tank Outlet Without Any Problems. I Am Also Useing The Stock Return Line On The Tank And Have Not Encountered And Rich Issues That Many Have Said Would Occur At Idle Because Of Too Small A Retun Opening On Stock Tank. The Outgoing And Return Line Connections On The Stock 260 Tank Are Both The Same Size.i Live In The Mountains And We Sure Have Our Share Of Twisties.you Can't Run Flatout For Very Long Up Here And May Be Why I Haven't Experienced And Fuel Starvation Issues.
  15. What Color Is Your Spark? Blue Or Is It Yellow. Must Be Blue .i Have Seen The Secondary Coil Go Bad And Not Fire Hot Enough To Start Or If It Did Run Rich.
  16. I Have A Stock 83 Turbo Motor And Ecu In A 260.cranks And Idles Fine , Runs On 10psi Of Boost Fine. I Have Threded The Waste Gate Rod To Get 10 Psi.my Drive Ability Issue Is When In Trafic And Trying To Be Easy And Stay Off Boost The Engine Seems To Surge On And Off Like The Fuel Is Running Out.it Is Suttle But Noticeable.if I Ease It Up In Rpm And Start To Build Boost It Stops Surgeing And Runs Smoothly.this Is Only At Low Speeds In First Or Second Below 2700 Rpm.when Cruseing At 35 Mph And Up There Are No Issues.any Ideas? Wow Me With Your Wisdom.
  17. Thanks For The Info.my Project Is Low Budget/no Budget. Married W/ Children.i Will Probably Go To The Granger Valve Type At Some Point. The Threded Wastegate Rod Is Ok For Free But Have Noticed Slower Spoolup.at First It Jumped Up There But I Think The Diaphram In The Controler Has Gotten More Plyable And It Takes More Rpm To Get The Full 10 Psi.i'veheard The Felpro Gasket Holds Up Well.thanks
  18. I Have An 83 Turbo Motor In A 260. 2 1/2 Back To A Magnaflow And It Sounds Great. Nice Rumble At Idle , V8 Roar On Accel But No Resination Or Loud Roar When Crusin Or Highway Work . Found Post With A Test On 30 Or So Mufflers Showing Hp And Dbl's When Tested On A V8 And The Magnaflow Finished 3rd Or 4th. Dynomax Was Bout 8th Or So. The Magnaflow Was Cheeper By Far Than The Top 3 And Had More Power With Reasonable Dbl's Than Anything In The Bottom 27.
  19. I Have The Same Car And Motor You Do And Just Installed It A Couple Of Months Ago. Had The Same Problem. There Are Two Yellow And White Wires In The Plug That Goes To The Coil Igniter. I Had The Wrong One And Had No Spark. I Rechecked The Wireing Diagrams And Switched To The Other Wire. It Cranked On The Fiest Try. I Tapped Into The Wire On My Start Button ; Yes A Button Like On The Honda 2000, For Mt Start Signal. And For My Igntion Run Wire I Tapped Into The Black And White Comming Out Of The Ignition Switch. Good Luck.

Well No Responses,i Put The Adjustable Waste Gate Arm On Guessed At A Setting ,pulled The Pop Off Valve And Pluged It With A Plug From A Na 300.when I Roadtested It It Was At 10 Psi, What Luck Exactly Where I Wanted It.it Pulled Much Stronger Naturally.it Was About 1 Am So I'll Have To Drive It A Little More To Compare Spoolup Etc.i Have A Felpro Headgasket How Well Will This Hold Up To 10 Psi?.at What Point Do You Have To Get One Of Those $200 Motorsport Gaskets? Are There Other Choices? I Have To Try The Washer Trick On The Pop Off Valve And Put It Back On.i Know Alot Of You Have Access To Dynos And Was Wondering If Any One Had Numbers Or A Graph They Whould Share For A Stock 83 Turbo With 2 1/2 Exhast And 10 Psi Of Boost.i Know It Won't Be Much But Its A Place To Start. It Certainly Moves The 260 Better Than The Stock Na Motor,ha Thats The Whole Point Eh?

I have read a lot of comments about boost control; bleedoff vs needle valve, but not alot about a threaded arm on the waste gate controller.Is there a big down side to using this method?I have put threads on one and welded a threaded adjuster to the end that attaches to the waste gate.I know that there are limits to the adjustability but I only plan on 10psi.How does spoolup compare to the other methods or spikes when you shut down the throttle?any comments welcome.wow me with your wisdom.

When You Spiked To 20lbs Of Boost The Computer Dumped Maximum Fuel In There And You Cut Off The Air When You Chopped The Throttle.this Flooded The Cylinder And Wet The Plugs And It Took A Little Running To Clear Up The Over Rich Condition. Just A Guess.i Was Thinking Of Making One Too. What Did You Use And Is It A Air Bleeder Type Or One With A Needle Valve, Or Other? My 260 Has A Stock 83 Turbo In It . I Was Going To Start With A Boost Controler To 10lbs And Modify My Pop Off With Washers To Raise The Boost Level.

Your Car Sounds Like Its Running On The Start Circuit But Not On The Run Circuit.i Don't Know What Type Of Coil Setup Your Car Has But The Earier Cars With The First Piontless Distributor Had A Step Down On The Voltage To The Coil.on The Start Circuit The Coil Got Full Voltage And When You Release The Key To Run It Is Reduced To Prevent The Stock Coil From Over Heating.its A Ceramic Reducer With Three Connections.i Put An Aftermarket Coil On Mine And Made A Jump Wire Between The Back Two Posts To Eliminate The Voltage Reduction.this Made The Coil Fire Hotter All The Time And The Plugs Ran Cleaner.i Had Installed A Start Button On My Car And Used It To Start The Car After I Had A Problem With My Ignition Switch. With The Key On Run And Using The Start Button It Would Start But Took A While When The Weather Was Cold.if It Turned The Key To Start While Pushing The Start Button It Started Much Faster Because It Trigered The Voiltage Bypass And Gave The Coil More Voltage And The Plugs A Hotter Fire. This Was Before I Made The Jump Wire.if Your Car Starts And Died Instantly I Would Think Your Run Citcuit Had A Priblem But If It Will Run A While Before Stoping It Sounds Like Not Enough Fire To The Plugs. Have You Checked The Color Of Your Spark? It Should Be Blue, If It Is Yellow The Secondary Winding Of Your Coil Could Be Going Bad.
  24. From What Every Body Has Experianced Hitting 200 And Occational Peeks To The 215 Range Seems Typical. I Guess I Keep One Eye On It And The Other Looking For A Vapor Trail In The Rear View And Move On To Something Else To Worry About.ha.nigel I Just Put It On Cap Lock And Its All Caps On My End But Changes Somewhere Between Here And The Post.twilight Zone Stuff.does Any One Know If The Stock Sending Unit For Oil Temp Will Work An Autometer Guage Or Will I Have To Spring For A Unit Form Them?
  25. Didn't Intend To Offend. I Just Ment I Thought That It Was Reasonably Accurate.i Left The Sending Unit On My 83 Turbo Motor When I Put It In But Do Not Have A Guage Yet And Was Curious About How Hot It Got When Driving Hard In The Summer.
