  1. Forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I was just thinking it'd be nice to have a central place for everyone to add any zed meetups they might have. Then if people are travelling they could pretty easily lookup any meets that might be happening and get directions etc etc. Nothing that can't be done manually here, but might be easier. To that end I made a google map for this and shared it. First time I've done this, so lemme know if the following works: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=205435446240735657519.0004a2a277a6c4ba17944 Dave
  2. dailydrifter, Your car looks awesome. As a secondary question, thats the spoiler you're running? It looks great. Thanks, Dave
  3. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/pts/2358696458.html Seems to indicate they come in 4x114.3 +25. For the street that could be made to work I guess... Pretty damn cheap indeed. Dave
  4. Hmmm.. does anyone have any more details about these wheels than this: http://www.xxrwheels.com/xxr_527.shtml I'm very curious about weight/price/offset/PCD of the 17x9.75. Dave
  5. http://www.driftworks.com/2011/04/is-this-the-most-beautiful-drift-car-ever/ Nice to see it came together well. Dave
  6. The Spin Werkes wheels are supposedly pretty light, and not bad value for money IIRC from prior research. The downside is they are 2-piece, so if you wanna change width or cop a curb, you'll need whole new rims. Still worth a look-in IMHO. Dave

  8. Thats a lot nicer than what I was going to say. But what I will say is, don't move to Victoria, Australia if you think CA is bad. Dave
  9. I'm sure this violates something, like my contentment in having a vivid visual imagination. Dave
  10. I really enjoyed CCA and Katz as well. I felt like CCS was more of a history lesson, not that it wasn't interesting, but I was a little bummed to read pages and pages of information about how they used to make dampers by sandwiching leather between metal discs. Who gives a toss? I wanted to know about alternate double wishbone layouts and more cutting edge/novel stuff. Alan Stainforth has to have seen a bunch of it, pity he didn't get it into the book IMHO. Gunna have to get CCD now Jon. That and keep trying to drag myself through RCVD. :S Dave
  11. Bar all the attitude, there is some good info in here. Thanks Dave
  12. For my applications I think (not sure?) I need the MS3. The VK56 is 8 coil-on-plugs, so the MS3X's 8 ignition outputs will make it much simpler to drive. I'm just getting into the whole MS thing, so I stand to be corrected. Dave
  13. Just read on some forum that the new megasquirt v3 ECU supports up to 8 ignition outputs! This means I can use it to run the VK56, assuming it has support for the type of signal the VTC wants. Thats great news for me as I was thinking I'd have to upgrade to something fancy (read: expensive) like a Motec or Bosch MS Sport. Yay for cheapness! Will continue investigating this. Also have a potential hookup for getting flanges made for the intake manifold which will also be nice. Issues starting to come together, in theory at least. Dave Update: Excellent! http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=106&t=38363 Open source tuning software. Tuning on my phone here I come.

  15. I think he lifted going through the kinker. Pusssy. Dave
  16. As to the OP's original question, (which if I'm reading it was about maximizing downforce, and had absolutely nothing to do with top speed) I don't think too may people would disagree that in general (considering commonly available parts for the S30) a wing has more potential to make downforce than a spoiler. Additionally, it would seem far simpler to mount a wing up nice and high in clean air to increase downforce, than it would be to get a spoiler to generate similar levels. Of course, you could always run both. My plan is to get one of these: http://www.prestostore.com/catalog.php/azcarbum/pd2118883 then later on mount a proper wing above it if I get that serious. Maybe something else to consider is that the car may not be that fun to drive with a tonne of rear downforce without the same consideration given to the front. Lots of other threads in here touch on improving front lift by venting the engine bay, so that'd be a good place to start. Dave
  17. Matt, your pic got deleted, please repost, I didn't get to see it Dave
  18. Good haul today. Picked up the ZG flares from classicdatsun.com and then swung over to Corona where I got some replacement rear lower control arms from 280ZForce. Powder-coated and all. Pics: Flares: Control arms: Next time I'm at the car I'll definitely put the control arms on, and will try to start on the front ZG flares. Dave
  19. thanks guys. Next thing will be mating the bilsteins to TTT strut tops. Dave
  20. Was waiting for someone to ask that. And now I'm waiting for jmortensen to chime in.. T-5minutes I reckon. Dave
  21. Side note: Jon, I've got Comp Car Aero and Katz, but not Comp Car Downforce, is it worth my getting do you think? The other two seem pretty comprehensive. Dave
  22. Gollum, nice writeup dude! Some pictures for some of the more intricate steps would be awesome if someone else wants to use this writeup at some point soon? I'm assuming you're not going to and change the tyres again just to get pictures. Dave
  23. Looks great Pete. Can't wait for pics of it mounted. Dave
