Here are some photo's of the front of car put back together and also the dyno sheets. I will be posting the video footage on youtube this weekend. I wanted Jerry to go up to 30psi boost, but he settled at 20 psi. Off to the track we go. It was so cool, did not have to pull a single wrench. All done with the laptop which was cool.

We went to the Muffler shop in Columbia today to have the car dynoed, Chris and Brian Tuten have been the Best. Chris started by writing a program for the car, and then we started doing pulls. The first pull with like 2 lbs of boost we made 412 hp, we then went to 5 lbs and made 517 hp, so we then tried 10 lbs and it made 633 hp Yee Ha !!!! We then went to 15 lbs and made 762 hp, but wait we took a vote and decided to turn the wick up a little more to 20 lbs and made wopping 847 hp , and I am on cloud nine. All these numbers are on a chassis dyno at the rear tires.I want to give a shout out to my brother and Best friend John for helping me get to this point. We will be taking it to the track in the next couple of weeks, John will be posting some more pictures and maybe the video of the pulls.

I took the Z over to my Brothers shop ( John ) last week ,so he could get started on rewiring the electronics, and new FAST fuel injection system. Then it will be off to the Dyno, and then the track.

John / Jerry
You guys rock!!
I am a little late catching up on this thread, but am subscribed now!! Keep up the good work
P.S. I am missing the DNI events as well, since I moved to PA a couple of years ago, I have done next to no racing to speak of and have been slowly converting the car into more of a street driver (pulled the NX kit, installed a 6-speed with a triple disc clutch, and some power heated 350z seats)... Don't get me wrong, it is not going to be JUST a street car (had the chassis recertified last weekend), but it is seeing more street duty and cruising than before...

Mike, Thanks for the reply, you and Scottie or one of the reasons I have taken this path(Turbos) and Rip (Zebra Z) is the second. You were the first Z with the R200 in the 8's and I hope to be there shortly myself, our mph was 153 and that was enough to get a 8 sec pass but we were baby off the line at that DNI event.I miss the DNI (SEZ shoot outs) too. How did the Techno toy rear swap work out? I have watched this video alot , several hundreds of times I know. The last time I was follow your post you had ordered the TT setup for the rear, and you went to a 88mm turbo. Are you still running this setup?I talked with John this past week end about starting our other Z project. It is a 74 260Z that I bought several years ago, it has the frame rails in it all ready and a 9" ford rear with ladder bars. But, I want to see how far or fast we can go with the R200 setup. Thanks and GREAT to hear from you.Jerry

Picked up my new powerglide and converter this weekend ,so I am still hoping to dyno next month and take it to the TRACK!!!

Well were are getting closer, today John ( my best Friend and Brother )came over and finished the braided fuel rail lines and turbo return oil lines while I fabed the mounting brackets for the water tank and trans cooler. We worked on the fuel cell adding the AN 12 bung, and figuring out were to mount the fuel pump in conjuction to the cell. I am hoping to have at the dyno and then the track the first of march. But time will tell.Jerry

I am glad to see this post, because I am still using stock type strut inserts and stock springs.Nice pass, how fast are you running and what type of combo?
-
Very Nice setup. Is that a trans cooler next to the water tank? My Iat's were a lot higher then i would like with my A2A so I have been contemplating a A2W setup or meth injection.
Thanks ,That is a watercooled trans cooler, and water tank that are made by Chiseled performance.

This is the factory rearend that came in my Z, we have been lucky so far. I have put down alot of 1.30ish 60' with a best of 1.31. The Blown racing fuel motor made 700HP at the rear tires and when we went blown Alky ,that motor probly makes around1200HP at the rear tires.I will keep using to R200 until I tear it up .Then I will look at other options.I looked at your build, and the R230 stuff looks very nice and I like the SB2 engine ,it should be a MONSTER and Bullet proof. Good Luck Jerry^ haha that is a sweet poster. I swaped in a R230 because i figured if im going to swap a diff anyways why not get strengh and reliability along with the lsd but looks like it wasent needed.

I'd love to see more of the intercooler. Does it go inside the car or just in the cowel?
The intercooler is a precision pt 1000 sheet metal , it is mounted in the coweling and comes out just behind the glove box door.

Wow that is disgusting! Looks great, so you’re running all that through the R200? What else do you have done to it? Can’t wait to see more pics
Thanks, yea all this with a R200 with CV axles converision. Several years ago with the supercharged motor we ran a best of 9.21@ 153 in the quarter with halfshafts and a SEZ shootout. This year I plan to go deep in the 8"s ,I hope.

I have been looking at mounting a radiator flat or cooling the motor with the intercooler tank and heat exchanger. JerryWhat are you going to run for a radiator?
-
Getting closer , I picked up the New torque converter on Friday, and ordered the intercooler water tank. Next Tuesday will finish up the Piping (intake). Then start the wiring, and running new fuel lines.

Great to see your back (and Flying) I hope you and your Famliy are doing well. Can I get a couple of bulbs or car links. Glad to hear from you. Jerry

Glad to see you are back,I hope all is well. JerryHere is another view of the " Little Tire Z" with a Go Pro mounted on the front fender on a 8.77 1/4 pass at the Virginia Laser Shoot Out..

NIce project and yes that is hot rodding. Nice job on the brackets. I agree I think a cowl hood would be just fine.
John
Nice job. Maybe a cowl hood?

We used to run a 400sbc with nitrous (250 shot) , just on HP we ran a 6.40 1/8 mile and on the gas a 6.00 if I remember correctly. We were using the the stock half shafts on the R200 rear and also had 3.55 gears. Used M/T ET slicks. I think 60 ft. was a 1.40. Half shafts did live, but we always had to check the u-joints. Then we added rubber bushings on top of the struts to help eliminate alot of the squat and also limited the front end travel as well. We did start snapping the ujoints.
Reading your post you did not mention if you are using cv joints or stock ujoints? If we bet on a race I was always worried about snapping the ujoints and losing the money. So if you are still running ujoints I would advise to go ahead make the switch to cv joints. Since we made that change we have not had an issue at all the half shafts. Still running them and have been through alot of engine swaps since the old days, all the way up to blown 355 alky engine. My brother Jerry is now almost complete with his new twin turbo setup in the z car.
Good luck on your build. It is looking good.

Jnj I'm new to the forum but see that you are local, I am in cola. I have a 240z with a mild carbureted 350 & a gt45 turbo on it (remote mounted). what kind of boost are you looking to run on your setup?
I am hoping for 22-25# of boost.
How worried should I be about my half-shafts?

We are using the 300 ZX turbo CV axles with stock control arms, with no problems. For the first couple of years we ran halfshafts using CARQUEST gold ujoints with some breakage, At our first SEZ shootout (DNI) on our second pass I broke both halfshafts, but I had enough spare parts to finish the event. We went a 9.21 @153 mph on haft shafts that day. Then we went to CV axles and have had no breakage yet. We will be putting them to the test in a couple of weeks with the new set up. Jerry
