  1. As much as I truly love the photo of the wheel standing Z car with the blower, it would look that much more impressive with a stock hood (or cowl hood). Once you take it to the track, if you are feeling brave enough to break some things, please take off the wheelie bars and get a camera ready!! :D That would be so sweet looking...:2thumbs:

I like the way the wheelstand photo is used to answer the question, "Is the R200 strong enough?" All good stuff.

Davy, still not using wheelie bars, and don't plan to start. My bddy calls them sissy sticks.
  2. Jerry, you continue to impress me with some sick builds! :P That will be a monster (possibly faster than the blown Z?) and probably fun to drive too, hoohaa!

I'll have to visit you if I venture down yonder where you are in SC.

Davy , it should be faster than the carb(gas) blown setup, and we never got a good pass on the FI alky setup, but we will keep posting on the progress. Now we will be tuning with a laptop.I talked with the the Guys I purchase the turbos and they feel confident we should see around 1000 RWHP or more. YEE HAAA!!!! Thanks Jerry
  3. Looks pretty nasty guys. Too bad we don't have DNI anymore to show it off. Be sure to post some videos after you get it running.

I wish we still did have the DNI shootout, that always helped us to get motivatived with meeting a deadline, I hope to finish the piping in the next couple of weeks, i found the intercooler I want ,and plan on ordering it this week. Glad to hear from you Deja. Thanks Jerry

  4. A long time in the works, but the project is finally coming together. We have had a Blown Carb combo,Blown Alky combo, a NOS combo ,and now a Twin Turbo Combo on E85. I want to thank ScottieGNZ, ZGAD, Rip (ZebraZ) and uncle Wayne, for information they shared with me years ago.I purchased the Turbos from Brian and Chris Tuten ,and they will be helping with the tuning. More info to follow.

  5. Here's the deal, my project is taking long then I thought. My engine is built sitting on a stand. I keep it covered, no carb so the intake is taped up, there's fresh oil in the pan and on the rockers.

What else should I be doing to not have issues when its time to fire it up?

    Thanks Brian

I would do what grumpyvette said but also I would loosen up the rockers to keep the valve springs from being loaded. Could make them loos there tension. At least that is what I did with my alky engine when I stored it for a 1 1/2 years.

  6. In the process of stripping out the engine bay getting it ready for primer. While im in the area, I was just thinking about frame rails. I have plans for a 350 swap. Mabey a mild cam and head work but remain N/A. Any of you guys have trouble with the 350 on stock frame rails? Any good threads with some extra strength ideas for a v8?

We used stock fram rails for several years with out any issues, When we upgraded the rollcage we installed the bull dog fram rails, I think that was the name of them. The fram rails was a easy install, they wrape around the original rails and you weld them in, but of course you want to get the car up on jackstands and make sure it is level an so forth before you start burning them in. Jerry

  7. Well I had a friend who might be interested in buy my blown alky engine. He lent me his drag truck and I put in the alky engine and took it to the track, I was driving this time and Jerry was doing double duty filming and lining me up in the burn out box, also since it was cold he had to spray de-icer on the butter flies of the bird catcher because they were starting to ice up. In the video you will noticed I went to neutral a few times, need another gear or two. The thing is a beast and turns up the rpm so quick.

  8. Not to put too fine a point on the subject, but if you have enough power, enough destructive desire, and the ability to abuse FAR beyond what is required to be truly fast/quick in any Z, then NO diff will hold up and you'll bust it every time.

Now take a smaller, known weaker differential, (the R-200), more than enough power and traction that drags the rear valence on the asphalt, possibly enough to quite literally flip the car over backwards, and try as hard as you can to go as quick AND as fast as possible without busting the diff, you’ll be rewarded with a fast car as pictured below. Add a beefier diff such as the R-230 and chances are you will have more fudge room under more extreme conditions, (i.e. drive more abusively without failure), but honestly, if you truly need more differential strength than what is depicted below, you are only being abusive for the sake of showing the world your ability to bust parts because you can, not because you want to be fast.

For what its worth, this V-8 topped with a Blower and dual quads is also running N2O, R-200 differential, and the drivers admit to not being ginger on their launches! :2thumbs:

Anyone who thinks they “need†more than an R-230 in an S-30 chassis to go faster, either doesn’t know how to drive or deserves the empty wallet to replace busted parts!

Of course, that is just my opinion.

I love our R200 and it is still going strong and more HP coming soon.Jerry
  9. I have seen this car in person.. and WOW!. that is awesome he is running deep into the 8s! Sounds like he has the car sorted out pretty well now and knows how to drive a car with that power level. Wished he could have made it to DNI again with that beast.
He hopes to be at the next DNI along with us. I am going to the Dyno tomorrow with our car, and hope to run it this weekend. We need to post some new pictures of our car and the Silver Bullit. Boatwright (Silver Bullit) has been working with his car and has made alot of progress. He is currently recovering from a surgery he had yesterday. Thanks for your reply Gabe.
  10. I have a candidate for the fastest street drivenZ(Silver Bullit), He is a member of HybridZ. He has a 76 280z with a sbf. That went a 8.62 @158 on Radials two weeks ago. The car is titled and insured. Full interior, not a gutted race car.We are planning on taking it on the Hot Rod power tour next year, this will be his second Power tour. I will try and post some videos soon.Jerry

  11. It looks like everybody had a great time. Sorry we could not attend this time. Looking forward to the next one. Glad to see some old friends having a great time. I hated reading about the mishaps that happened Friday the 13th but I am glad all went well.

  12. I loved the videos, gets my blood boiling..... You should be running a low 9 with that mph, man I bet the turbo is pulling strong on the other end with that mph.

Hopefully we can get our z back together in time for dni on the 14th, my brother Jerry will not be able to make it but I will try. It just want be the same without him. We will see where we are after this weekend.

And again congrats on the nice numbers......

  13. I used to order all my stuff from Jegs - telephone order and they were quick to ship and never had any problems with them, that was about two years ago, then they started charging handling charges. Now I get my stuff from my local Speed Shop now, also to support my local speed shop. If it is a big ticket item then I might look to the internet to save on sales tax.

  14. We use two holley pumps on the Nitrous motor, one for the carb which is bypassed and one for the NOS which is dead headed. One is the black holley which is rated at 14psi and the other is a blue pump. If one dies then we can do some re-routing and ony use one.

We also caryy a holley pump rebuild kit just in case.....

The Aeromotive pump is nice but expensive, but you do get your moneys worth. Same with Barry Grant. If you go with one of these pumps then you only need one then you and tee off to carb and NOS but you will have to run at least a 10AN feed and 10AN return line....
