  1. You need the 89 hood, 89 headlights and associated hardware, and 89 bumper. swapping the taillights is not worth it, unless you're direly obsessed. It involves cutting and welding, I believe. There's a write-up somewhere on the web, try z31.com
  2. The TiAL BOVs are sweet! I've dyno'd a few cars with them, running 20-25psi and never had a single problem. I used a TurboXS RFL Type H, and it was decent. I ran 10-20 psi with it and never had a leak--except... sometimes in 3rd gear, at just the right RPM and load (and throttle position), it would vent.
  3. Cool, thanks. I don't have any plans to do this myself.
  4. With Megasquirt, the optical CAS in the dizzy works perfect. MS does not do Sequential (yet), and they say the costs outweigh the benefits.
  5. Looks great! That's how I'd like mine to turn out. I don't like any of the fender flares that some people get, with maybe one exception. I like the stock look with front air dam and that spoiler. Also, I love s30's with the same era wheels, like 15s and maybe 16s. Fat tires look good on these cars. So anyway, that's what I'd like mine to look like, color and all. Except maybe I'd change the stripe color or remove it. Which air dam is that, by the way?
  6. Cool. Look into other engine management systems, EMS is good, but there are other ones out there that are cheaper (megasquirt, cough...). I have pretty much the same power goals with my project. about 550whp. I'd like to get 600whp, but that may require bigger turbalows. Who knows, maybe some supporting mods (methanol, nitrous, etc) will get me there. I'd like it streetable, though. I won't have mine driveable for quite a while. At least, not driveable with any respectable power numbers.
  7. Ha! That's funny, sounds like something I would try. I've always wondered how they worked. It seems like with .03 amps, it wouldn't be able to go through the body, but apparently that doesn't matter as long as the voltage is high enough. Yay for transformers:
  8. I have dealt with that mgp dude, can't remember what I got--maybe an intake for my z31 or something. But I didn't have any troubles. He frequents z31.com more.
  9. Cool. What goals to you have with the car?
  10. I would guess the GT35 is too big for your needs. I would stick with the GT30, and a .63 turbine. I had a t04e 57 trim/t3 76 trim .63 - and full boost (and torque) was at 4500 rpms. I lost a lot of low end compared to when I had the stock T3 on my car (vg30et). The GT series, some swear you lose spool and lag time because of the BB, but I doubt it's that big of a difference. It was worth it for the extra power. I topped out at 270hp, 270tq on the T3 (at about 12psi), then I switched to the t3/t4 above, and netted 390hp and 440tq. The T3 had the peak torque at about 3k, whereas the t3/t4 was later, but much more powerful. Well, here's the dyno on my old z31; 18psi:
  11. I have heard nothing but BAD news about SSAutochrome's products. You get what you pay for.
  12. thanks for all the info. My main breaker box is on the outside of the house, and there is a smaller one on the inside. The main box has a 60 amp or so for the mini one. So all the guy would need to do is up the breaker for the small box's power in the main box 50 or so amps (assuming the wiring to it is the correct size already for that amperage), correct? Then just add a 50 amp DP breaker in the small box? If the wiring would have to be rerun anyway, then just a 50amp at the main box with a seperate outlet, correct?
  13. Wow, this link helps out a lot: http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/electric/hsehld.html
  14. I've used the awesome-ness that is the Syncrowave 250 DX at work for a while. And I've now been using their smaller EconoTIG for a little while, and they might sell it to me. But now I feel like a newb, because I have no idea how to get a 230v source for it. I don't know jack about single/2/3 phase power requirements, and I've checked wikipedia and a couple of links but am still clueless. Now, before you think I'm going to dig in to my (parent's, ha!) home electric system, I'd like you to know that I'll get an electrician to do it for me, but I'm still interested in finding out WHAT needs to be done, etc. So the EconoTIG is 200/230/460v, single phase machine.... http://www.millerwelds.com/products/tig/econotig/ So getting more than one "phase" shouldn't be a problem. But, Why all the different voltage ratings? And how exactly do they get 230v? Two 120v put together on each side doesn't seem like it would work. Could my 230v dryer source suffice? I doubt it has a big enough amperage rating. And, how exactly does one get more than one phase to their house without getting another seperate line from the plant? Man, I'm clueless.
  15. What if I bought the turbo sound kit for my already turbo car?
  16. Welcome to the world of big turbos on small engines. sacrifice lower end torque for peak power.
  17. sweet v3.0 doesnt need the ignitor? That's cool. One less part I need to worry about.
  18. Don't you just love it when that happens? You think you're screwed, but it turns out to be something simple. Very relaxing feeling, albeit frustrating.
