  1. Well in my opinion Zmanco wins the award for the most simplistic shot at describing the existance of torsional forces on the differential. Lets not forget the famous "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction". I love that one. So Im getting a NO on bolting to the crossmember? Dang, thats too bad. A much quicker fix. I started to ponder reinforcement of the crossmember but decided in the end that the time and materials spent would negate the initial benefit.
  2. You are truly a lucky man. Just toss in some straps in the back. Like the ones used to secure T-tops! Then just strap the little one down! kidding man! How about a small bucket seat bolted to the aft valley. That way the legs would be resting on or about the center console. And with a bolt up roll bar you might have more options. Im sure the little one would get a kick outa seeing forward. gnosez has probably the most practicle solution. They call it a "jump" seat I believe. Good luck mister....
  3. dsommer....any news? Dont want to barrage the man with calls. Has he responded to your offer to post answers to questions? Many thanks,
  4. It's an "event". Not a trip to the hardware store. Take the family, take the car. I dont see any real problem with putting a "child" seat in a sports car. Other than a two seat "sports" car is what it is. And a family is what it is. Thats why a family man with a "sports" car had better have more than one ride. And if one is taking ones family to an "event" take the "sports" car.....with the family car. By the way I had three children so I speak from experience. I thought only Harley riders rode their prize rigs to "events". Oh, my bad, Last time I was in the Dakotas thats right.....I witnessed about a hundred trailers with bikes on them. Darn, that didn't work!
  5. That was awesome Darrel!! OK Now that we know that your going to live. Lets hear the story!
  6. How about you trailer the Z and be done with it?
  7. Hey Mike. Im no expert but I will say that Edelbrock NOS systems use fuel augment systems to prevent piston burn. Would not one simply need to rout the fuel delivery lines to a separate tank that had its own pump/regulator? Have you checked out the Edelbrock systems?

  9. Man. Seems like it is getting hard to hang on to this Team III thread. Shure are alot of opinions/wheel salesmen/bashers out there. OK Im done with my rant. Im highly interested and ready to buy. And I dont even need wheels untill March. I was gooing to call them this morning but seeing that you, dsommer, are on it, I will sit back. Weight is not a huge concern at the moment as I will not be tracking my ride. They look good, and the price is right. Would love to see what the unpolished set looks like. If it indeed has a chrome lip with unpolished spokes....I will be placing a bead on it. "billet does not a man make".
  10. Yes, the unpolished ones. I was wondering if the lip stayed chrome. Im going to call them tomorrow and find out the ordering info particulars but high res would be nice. Mike, I wonder if they will, or have published their weights?
  11. That is good news. Im set on 17" with 255X45 rears which call for a 9.5 wheel width. I have the 8 inch 2.5 coil over. So I will check the wheel off set available for the target wheels I'm eyeballing. Looks like we may have a winner. And yes if you are on a 15 inch wheel at 4.5 BS, 5" would be a squeeker. 5" on a 17 would not be a prob. I'll get back to you with my findings. (Edit) Im going to do some measuring tonight to be sure but Im very interested in the TeamlIIIWheels Co. that disnomer dug up. They will do custon/variing offsets as listed in below link. Stand by............... Ok with the 9.5s that I need they can do from 3.5" to 7" back space. Where's my tape measure! Heres the info. Nice wheels. http://www.team3wheels.com/ac/ Many thanks,
  12. I agree. About 3/4 of an inch more than the stock spring at the configuration shown. Do you think that would still hold with the eight inch 2.5 dia spring verses the ten inch 2.5 coilover. And larger diameter wheels will give you more also. bjhines, what wheel dia is in the pick? Great example by the way.
  13. PM member Alsil he has the best around for sale. Top notch. Or search under crossmember, ford crossmember, 5.0 Datsun crossmember, or Alsil cross member.
  14. Darn that takes the fun out of it.......
  15. Excellent Doc. Please keep us posted. If you need anything from Amarillo...hollar!
  16. Buzy. thanks for the return. Oddly, while driving this morning I was wondering about the tolerances. Particularly at the base of the bracket assembly. Namely it's width. Certainly would not want to be too wide but, tacking it in place is a great way to solve that one. And one question. The spacers that you speak of. Would they not need to be between the iso and the bracket assembly? And if you mean, "between the upper dif and iso", what type of material and how do you secure them? Zleep...yes pics please. Poly diff sounds good!
  17. Oh man! Love to see it hang a corner at speed. Chirp, chirp, chirp, WACK!!

Wow Mike you shure took a beating for that quote!! You first stated that back at post #38. This quote of mine above shows that I was the first to jump on. Na na nana na. The road course ratings are different from the RR site verses the Precision site. The rep at Reider Racing claims that both are in error due to the fact that, as Jon M points out as well, The Power brute is the nismo/nissan multi clutch LSD that has garnered considerable acclaim on road courses around the world. The Brute will do an awesome job for the average hot rodder. And thank you sincerely for all the beatings, and the hard work on the Brute Group buy. I have mine, and it's all your fault!!!! Many thanks,
  19. Thanks Pete. I was just scanning the files on my computer. Couldn' find it. Was going to reach for sacred Hybrid Z search button when I saw your post. Thanks again for the assist. My thought is to see if I can mod the top of his mount to be adjustable. As to allow for diff nose angle changes. Has this been done? (Edit) Christ on a crutch!! I re read your post. All the way through this time. And saw that you had yet again already answered my question. Trying to do three things at once here! Work keeps getting in the way of Z excellence! Thanks again
  20. Thanks Jon. So I take it that the strap was a factory deal. Shame they didn't take it a step futher to secure the diff more positively. I think I have the Ron Tyler blue print on the hard drive here somewhere. Getting ready to pull the diff for the Power Brute conversion so I guess Im at the point of needing to decide. Thanks again,
