Boyd's Welding has a template for a tank that fits in the stock location and uses the stock mounting straps, but the shape of the 280 tank is a bit different. Ah well, just an idea. Nice find on the pistons though!

^Or just tell us where/how they got them, whether it be through connections in Japan or some other way.

Dude, there's a place around this area that does custom fuel tanks and they have the template for our cars. It might be another option for you to consider, I know it's on the list if I ever go the FI route, maybe they could tweak it for a carbureted car?

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels

^^^Also, no one says anything about Enkei 92/Souther Ways Mesh/Hayashi Perrier? Meh. Anyone get new wheels recently? -

Fake vs. Real blah blah blah some people like them, some people don't see the real problem (especially if they don't pretend they're real). Some people think the extra bolt holes look lame, some people don't mind them at all. (Also, aren't Rota RBs copies of Panasports?) Can we see more pictures of wheels on cars? -

The extra bolt holes bother me as well, it just seems more prone to an epic fail like a 17in. Rota Subzero on a track with rumble strips. They look good though, especially the 532. -
So, the fruits of my labor and a friend who welds turned into this: Made a bracket for the S2000 seats to fit in the car as they are with no cutting of rivets or swapping sliders. Next up is the passenger seat which should go a lot faster. Also, notice the rust? Someone repaired the driver's side floor long time ago, but the welds have a few pinholes and weren't really finished well. The did do the whole pan though, wonder if I can just clean it up this weekend? We shall see.

Picked up the seats, gotta wait until later this week to mount them, though. Also a couple random shots when I was riding around trying to find engine stand bolts for the L28ET.
-
The AP1 seats have that nice cutout in the headrests, the AP2 seats do not, however. Otherwise structurally/visually the same, just means these seats are even newer .

Hello all, long time lurker/reader on this forum. Just picked up a 1973 Datsun 240Z and got some big money things out of the way up front. Too bad it's all stuff you can't see lol. Anyway, I had to drive down to pick up the car just north of Tampa, FL after spotting it on craigslist. I didn't really have a problem with it, the exterior looked pretty mint: Looked pretty much like exactly like the ad on the outside, drove it, liked it, brought it home on a trailer the next weekend. The car already has the early SU's, a 6-2-1 header, as well as a single 2.5in exhaust on the stock looking L24. Soon as I got it back in town, I got to put put around in it a bit, ran solid except for the clutch being shot. I'm not the biggest wrencher yet, so I decided to swing by the local Z guy here in town and see what he had to say. A week later, I have a new clutch and heavier pressure plate, and a machined/lightened stock flywheel that was balanced with the clutch at the machine shop. Did I mention it ran great already? I chirped tires on the way home. Also gonna pick these up this weekend, and the stock seats have just about had it and these are well-priced and minty fresh. Any way I can protect myself if these are stolen? Orlando is notorious for stolen Honda bits. On the list this week also is to give the car a bath, and clean out the (stripped) interior. Apparently, this was going to be a race car . It did come with a lot of the interior vinyl and plastic, and also an L28ET that was running when it was pulled. So far, the grand plan is: 1. Clean/finish interior Re-do floors (PO did a poor job with the replacement floor pan, slow rust) Install S2K seats Coat in POR15 Repair or cover dash (Holding out for that CF dash cap) Replace gauges and lighting 2. Re-paint/tidy up the engine bay (Probably the red that's already in there) 3. Drop the suspension and get some undercoat action going after being stripped and treated 4. Upgrade suspension (Shocks and springs vs. coil-overs? Camber? Wheels & tires?) 5. Tear down the L28ET and decide if I want to run it turbo or not 6. (Ongoing) Scavenge the net looking for parts I may or may not need. 7. (Ongoing) Re-finish exterior pieces like the faded black bumpers and faded air dam. Pretty much in any order or as things come up for sale while I have money lol. The seats are the end of the budget for now, aside from small bits check to check. Have a couple of books on the way to guide me through this, and an open mind with internet access so all you folks who have been down this road before can teach me. I don't like to half-ass things I do with my hands, so I hope that will show in this project. Until next time! Oh yeah, my daily:

Same car, same town. THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!!! lol looks like you've got a lot of good things happening already. Did you grab that orange 280 off Main and 8th near a funeral home? I'm jealous if so, I know the owner and he might have just given it to me . Good luck on your next move(s)!

Question on rear flare reduction and paint style
mal_tiempo replied to Sarx's topic in Body Kits & Paint
I would definitely agree with cutting off the lip of the flares, getting rid of the almost bubble flare effect it's got going on. -
Making Old Iron Handle

Really good read (the section you picked out). Lot of universal info. It didn't really cover ride height though, so off into the interwebs I go. -
This thread is full of win. Can't wait to see it driving/what kind of numbers you get.
-
My question is, does that guy have another Z he wants to sell? lol Kudos on the find and getting her running.
-
This is a great thread, because I may be picking up a Z that needs exactly this done. Looks great! I've done a bit of home carpet cutting myself, so I look forward to possibly tackling this.

Offset type camber plates
mal_tiempo replied to mal_tiempo's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Sticky, you're correct. John, I'm talking about these types of camber plates: I'm not the Evo tuner lol, currently driving a Mazdaspeed6, so I guess I'm still turbo/AWD. Good to hear you have customers who are happy with them. I was reading that the max adjustment is right around -1 to 1.5. Do you possibly have any pics of them mounted? I just don't wanna shoot in the dark as far as where they mount and how they work (pretty good idea, though), hopefully they come with instructions. -
So, I'm hopefully going to be picking up 240 with a L28ET this month. Looking at where I want the project to potentially go, I'm looking at sticking with the stock diameter springs/shocks setup. In looking for camber solutions that bolt on, I've come across several versions of these offset camber plates that use the stock bolts for mounting. In my search, I only found a couple mentions of these type of bolt on plates, and I don't see the "strut thread" mentioned by a couple people in regards to camber adjustments. I'm just wondering if anyone has or is using them, or if some of the suspension gurus on here have anything to say about them? Mostly street driving (daily) and light/weekend track duty is what I'm looking at. Thanks in advance. -Kevin D.

I love that exhaust, is that custom? Don't mean to get too off-topic, but this whole thread is inspiration. -
