  1. I changed the points, coil, and power-valve and it still does the same thing.
  2. Yeah im gonna try it out, ill let you all know what happens.
  3. Well i have another set of mallory performance points, I can throw in there and see what happens. I noticed the other points are floating when it reaches the upper rpm range, and the condensor burnt out on me 2 days after i got it so i dont think the points of are any quality either.
  4. It has points, no ignition module. could a cheap set of points do this? I'm almost positive its not vapor lock either cause i have all the fuel lines and regulator wrapped in heat reflective material.
  5. It may be the coil cause its pretty old, what happens exactly. The plugs havn't even been in a week, new cap, rotor, dwell set at 30. I'm stumped. I think i need to get a different fan temp switch so it stays a little cooler, it seems like there is very little airflow through the engine compartment.
  6. If I drive it when it is cold it runs good but once it gets hot it sputters and just quits. The timing is set at 30 degrees and the carb is a stock 600cfm holley spreadbore, and i just put a rebuilt distributor in it. Would it die if it got hot?
  7. I had my stock 305 running great and now it wants to die when it gets hot, it barely wants to run, any ideas?
  8. what kind of z do you have traub?
  9. yeah makes sense, ill give it a try and see what i come up with. thanks for the help
  10. they should work then. 305 has a bore of 3.75 and a 307 has a bore of 3.87. plus the engine i am using is bored 30 over so it is really only one thousandth smaller than a 350 bore, i cant imagine a measly thousandth of an inch would render the 882's unusable.
  11. thats kinda what i thought. i guess ill just have to see for myself when i get back home.
  12. thanks for the info. Im pretty sure all 882's have 1.94 inch intake valves and 1.50 exhaust. Hopefully i can make the extra 50 horse power relatively easy. I plan on using the 882 heads with mild porting, maybe a mild cam if i have the money, a GM four barrel manifold off my current 305 a holley 600 spread bore, and im gonna try my hardest to fit some long tube headers in there.
  13. nice to know but im figuring on doing a mild porting job on my 882's myself, it should be a good experience and hopefuly worth some power, If they will work on the 307.
  14. can i use heads with 1.94 and 1.50 inch valves? I have a set of 882 castings that only have about 5 thousand miles on them and they have hardened seats which i need.
  15. Has anyone on here ever used a 307 far a performance engine? I have a 307 and a 305 which is in my car now, but the 307 is out of a 69 camaro and is rated at 200hp and 300tourqe, the 305 is only about 140hp and 240 tourqe. I would like to get about 250hp out of the 307 whith basic bolt ons. I also heard that 350 heads will not work on a 307, i guess cause the valves are bigger and the cylender is smaller. Any help would be great. thanks
  16. does anyone have or know where i can get a cowl hood for my 85z, my v8 needs more room. Thanks
  17. Does anyone know if fender flares are made for the 300zx? If so where can i buy them? If not has anyone made their own? Is a steel cowl hood made for the 300zx?
  18. you may want to try retarding it slighty by only about two degrees and see what happens. You should check your plugs too and see how they look, also check the gap.
  19. I remember when i had to get my shaft made for my 85 300zx the shop found me a yoke from neapco and it worked perfectly. I forget the number though, i do remember hearing that spicer had discontinued it.
  20. some fluctuation is normal with a high performance cam. it could also mean that your fuel mixture isnt quite right yet. The sputtering may be a timing problem, what is it set at? I had a similar problem with my motor and once i found the optimum place for the timing it ran smooth.
  21. Heres my car, it is by no means a show peice but it is fun. It has a late 80s(not sure exactly) 305 and a saginaw 3 speed. The motor is stock besides a holley 600 cfm spreadbore, and i had to put points on it because the hei didnt fit, hopefully an electronic conversion is coming soon. This thing is pretty darn fast for what it is it will screach tires in all 3 gears. Anyway heres some pics of the install.
  22. The one above the timing cover just enters into the lifter valley, it is not pressurized so you cannot use it for a guage.
  23. [/url]This pic sucks but its the best i could find. If you look close you can see the threaded hole for a fitting, it's to the left of the distributor on the block not the intake manifold
