ka24de into 240z swap completed with turbo

When I was a guitarist, that was the last thing on my mind.

?? Oh well... Anyways, so I'm thinking of doing another TB like this except for a final step I will use a hone to give it a cross hatch pattern on the inner side. That way the "boundries" wont cause so much turbulence, yet be smooth enough to not cause any build up or corrode over time. I will keep the portion behind the throttle plate mirror finish since it comes this way stock and I have not been given any reason why not to have it mirror there so I'm assuming it is important since it comes this way stock.

I'm not familiar around the L series...I am on the VG though. Question, can you flip the exhaust manifold around and bolt it up? Try it and take a pic I have no idea, just a thought. We can do that on the VG.
-
Hey makes sense. I get ya. No put down taken. You say on the intake side, what about exhaust side? Also, what can you say about the highly polished portion of the stock TB? Why make it high gloss there?

Just wanted to tell you I'm following your thread. Very nice work, and the fact that you are new at this makes me happy. I have yet to use a real spray gun, I can do wonders with a can of glass spray paint though .

I would like to see the whole shot of the car with these flares.

^ I was thinking more along the lines of a V6 VG's are beasts, are shorter, and look great in an S30 engine bay. Plus its a Z engine and 6 cylinders Atleast with the KA, you can still call it a 240Z. I think Nissan made a 240Z prototype before the 350Z with the KA engine in it, but they scratched it because they weren't willing to make a Z a four banger. -
It's 26 gallon 9.9CFM @ 150PSI max

Hey. Where'd you get your engineering degree? I got my at UCSC Yea your right about the boundaries I guess that makes sense...but I don't see many boundaries inside the throttle body, except for where the throttle plate meets the walls. But, note that on all throttle bodies, at those points, it is mirror finish from the factory, so that has to tell you something

So I worked my ass off at polishing aluminum Here are my results. Sorry, pic is forthe ebay ad but its perfect because it shows before and after shots. http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k125/andre2099/Q45%20stuff/throttlebodycopy.jpg I'm working on polishing some stock aluminum intake components for my Z31. Anyone have any tips on how to polish interior bends? I want the insides to be like the throttle body. Also, I bought a sand blaster gun from harber freight and some 80 grit glass beads. It doesnt seem to do anything. I'm thinking the gun needs some kind of smaller air nozzle because the one provided is just a wide hole. Anyone have any links or info on sandblasting? It will make my life a whole lot easier.

Looking good. Can't wait to see the finished job.

Can a rear spoiler reduce exhaust fumes?
andre2000 replied to Andrew Bayley's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Is this an S30 problem in general? My Z31 had a fumes problem in the greenhouse but it went away after I rebuilt my engine and fixed some exhaust leaks. -
Progress on my insane VQ35HR 240Z project

Did you dyno that yet? What kind of HP do you estimate you're putting down? It's weird for me to see a 4 banger in a Z, but you did a good job. Lemme ask, why a KA? Is it because you love it or just had it around? -
http://www.tfu.info/1984/Autobot/Prowl/prowl.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prowl_(Transformers) Originally a 280ZX, later he was a 350Z. Pretty cool, never knew there was a fairlady autobot. If this is a repost, sorry.

all VG's including 2.0L's, all SOHC's and DOHC's, diesel and throttle body injection versions. Hehe, I couldn't resist.

I am researching the VG for http://www.vgpowered.com and somehow I came across this thread. Sorry to revive an old thread...but this quote by racinjitter is completely false. ALL VG's that have ever rolled out of a Nissan factory are OVER SQUARE. Not trying to start anything, just trying to set the record straight.

I thought I saw a post about this before. Did you try using the search? Anyways, I believe the engine bay is too small for the VG30DETT. Theres really not that much room in there, I would stick to a V8 conversion or just the stock turbo engine. The small block v8's fit very nicely in there, leaving alot more room than the stock engine. Refer to the V8 section of this forum.

Thank you so Much. You know whats funny? I always count on you and your website. You give the best replies, your not immature and I always end up referencing your site. Weird. I'm going to mimic you Ok, that sounded weird Anyways Yeah for reals, I'm going to start an NA->Turbo project soon. My N/A wont last more than a year the way it is so I'm going to do it as I rebuild. I'm planning to pull a turbo engine from the junk yard. Any tips on signs to stay away from would be helpful.

Ok I want to either confirm or put this to bed once and for all. I keep hearing everytime a someone brings up swapping in a VG30DETT into a Z31 "the VG30ET and VG30DETT are basically the same in performance so you might as well stay with the VG30ET" or something in the lines of that. Whomever supports this statement, can you please back it up? What will make the VG30ET "Just like" a DETT? Are we talking about NOS here? If we are then lets end this. NOS, in my opinion, is in its own category. We can blow up all kinds of engines but we dont call em' Ferrari's. So far, I have searched and searched and found that the most an ET can kick out is 243HP(generous estimate) with lost and lots of mechanical upgrades and work and sets us back around $3grand(Parts and labor). Is there ANY thing else that can make the ET 300HP so that it can MATCH the DETT stock 300HP? Hopefuly this can turn into a comprehensive thread. Anyone here have a 300HP+ VG30ET (NO NOS)? Write ups? Links? Pictures?
