there are no set rules for painting. you get a better finished product if you paint it apart is all. its just a ton more work. no overspray in the door hinge area and such. if you have an experienced painter it will match perfectly as long as you spray with the same gun, same pressure and same amount of passes. my brother has been doing this for over 30 years so he has all his bases covered in the paint dept. i am really looking forward to monday's painting... i will post finished and assembled pics asap

Arizona adjustable strut experience
coyotegary replied to blueovalz's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i not only run the arizona z car set up on my Z but have installed many sets for customers. very good quality and holds up to abuse and the strut tube measurement is as lots of people here say......every Z is different so measure twice and cut once. on 2 customers cars the measurement that is on the site was perfect. others had different wheels and set ups so they needed to be a bit lower. -

coyotegary replied to MoNkEyT88's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
i love 260's. i have done a few 260 personal projects.if you are interested take a look at desertzassociation.com members rides section scroll down to coyotegary pics the one black primered is my latest 260 race car. it is in the shop being painted this week. i will post finished pics very soon. it sounds similar to some things you are wanting to do ya gotta love the 315/35/18's tucked under the rear quarter panels -
with all the pics and drawings of flares and body kits here i thought you guys might like to see what my brother created for me he redesigned the velerosa rear body tub. we didnt care for the huge cut outs behind the rear wheels in the quarter panels nor did we like how high the wheel well opening was. he chopped it up, shortend it,lowered it and made it fit perfect to run 11 inch wide wheels with 315/35/17 tires the quarters now cover the tires at the top by 1/4 inch with a 1/4 side clearance i dont know how to post a pic here so if you really want to see a few pics just go to desertzassociation.com to the members rides section look at coyotegary section for the black 74 Z shiny paint is on the way....lol

my brother made a splash mold of a cobra(front 30 inches) then had to cut it in half and widen it 4 inches to fit the car. after that he designed and hand made the rest of the fenders and hood to make it all come together. so i guess the answer would be ....he didnt use a kit but rather made his own

take a peek at our shop website if you get a chance. there are 1000 pics of customer Z car projects we have done over the years. www.spankysautobody.com its a fun site to browse even if we are not in the same state as the majority of Z people here online it is nice to know there are specialty Z shops still keeping the Z cars alive and well.....lol i dont want this to appear i am advertising. there are just tons of Z cars there to see what all goes into keeping these cars alive

you are correct...it has no side glass. the doors are shaved and lightened with no glass ,tracks ,or cranks. the quarter windows are shaved and removed ,as well as the drip rails being shaved. it is a specialty purpose car that will never see rain or snow. i have won a few awards along the way at MSA i, along with my brother, own spankys auto and spankys auto body thank you for looking and i am glad you like what you see

thank you all for all the positive feedback. it means alot to me

thanks guys, i am glad you like it. it was a labor of love over the past year. it was my sons car. you asked for details of the project so here goes. my 17 year old son passed away 8 years ago. this was his car. he loved it. it took me 8 years to build up the nerve to get it out of storage after all that time.he loved to hot rod it around so i decided to totally redo it to what i thought he might want if he were still around to direct me. i must give first credit to my brother who did all the design work and hands on creating this one of a kind body. it is a cobra kit car front 30 inches. we made a splash mold and custom made it fit the body and also made everything else in fiberglass to match up. all one piece fiberglass from winshield forward and also from behind the doors. even made a fiberglass hatch to mold onto the body. the wing was on the car from when my son owned it so i had to keep it as part of the mold to keep something original from his car. we just molded it into the body to smooth it out. my brother made me get the wheels and tire s first that i wanted and only then would he build the quarter panels to perfectly match the wheel opening 315/35/17 rear 11 inch wide wheels .....275 frt rear lexan glass hinges instead of the hatch. used apache helicopter latches on the lexan it runs 438 skyline lsd complete arizonazcar race suspension w/ wilwood 6 piston clipers fuel cell and rear battery in floor mount every inch inside and out is zolatoned and clearcoated the one of a kind quarters even have a custom made inner fiberglass liner fiberglass race dash and a hand made aluminum console custom wiring harness hiden in frame tubes so no wiring shows any other questions/ i would be glad to answer

thanks guys...glad you like it i had to explain my life away on Zcar.com when they saw the front end and headlights. those guys mostly hate anything that isnt stock this was far from their favorite body style change i have alot of z cars and alot of them are stock and i like that look too , but i bought this one totalled and the front end was demolished along with front and rear suspension. it was on its way to the bone yard to be parted out so i figured what a perfect candidate to make somewhat custom. my brother made up the front end and molded it on and also came up with the headlight bucket design. so it is truely a one of a kind. added suspension and brake upgrades, one piece aluminun driveshaft and underdrive pulleys, centerforce clutch and cold air intake. and swapped out the cloth seats for power leather. its my new daily driver and i think its hot. glad to see you guys arent so hard line factory stock oriented

hi guys, here are a few pics that someone asked for. they show my 94 Z with the custom front end and new paint job, along with the big brake kit and coil-overs from Arizona Z car. i just installed it all earlier this week. i must admit i am very impressed with the brakes stopping abilities. the coil-over have shocks that are adjustable to 14 different settings.....very cool. i lowered it an inch overall and the ride is too good to be true. money well spent.

yep, sounds right to me. intakes have brass seats and the exhausts have steel

i see you got the same kit as i did. do you love it as much as i do? i did his 13 vented rotors with 6 piston billet calipers. rear kit as well. i also installed his coil over kit today while i was at it. i love the 14 position adjustable shocks!!!! holy crap...it rides great!!! now i cant wait to go run the heck out of it....lol -
recently painted my 94Z and my brother built a custom front end for it since it was wrecked when purchased. that all turned out well so i thought the car deserved a couple upgrades. i installed today a brake kit and coil over kit from Arizona Z car. huge 13 inch vented rotors and billet alum 6 piston calipers...it stops like MAD!!!!lol his coil overs lowered it an inch all around and my 18's still clear great. they have 14 position adjustable shocks and it rides way better than i imagined. very pleased with all the changes and i cant wait to run it hard!!!

i ran that set up with flat tops and an N42 for 2 years. fantastic performance with a few mods and it never let me down
-
wild look and i'll bet it all suits him just fine since he built it himself . i like everyones versions of custom...this one is just a little better than most

i have installed the radiator from dave at arizonazcar in my personal cars. and many in my customers cars. i must say that i agree with pallnet, it fits perfect in the opening. making use of every inch so to be as big as it can be to do an excellant job of cooling. the last one i installed was in a 71 240 just last week. i installed it in the upper holes so it would mount as low as it could so as to clear the hood when closed. i used a zx hose for the bottom. i installed it upside down from normal . it came straight out of the radiator and right past the alt with great clearance. i trimmed the hose off at the top outlet and it fit very good. the upper hose was a bit large at one end. i put the larger end toward the thermostat housing and cut off the large end so it fit . no issues that i could find. it was a 30 minute install. im not aware of anyones abilities to install a radiator other than myself, but i have never been the sharpest tool in the shed and i made it fit with minimal effort. it does stick down just like dave told me it would but it is higher than the crossmember under the engine so that will hit way before the rad does. i actually like the idea that it is lower to grab all the air it can to do a better job of cooling. i got stuck in a traffic jamb a few months back. i sat in one spot for an hour and 10 minutes in 100 degree temps. i idled the entire time with a/c on with no everheating the whole time. that was a true test of the radiators cooling ability.....it passed with flying colors.i ran that radiator for 2 years and still going strong. not so much as a tiny leak. (my 2 cents worth)................for the price he sells the radiator for and as good of a part that it is......i am glad to play with a hose for a few minutes to make a clean install. try the lower hose upside down to see if it goes as good as mine did....hope this helps
