  1. I'm running 17x7 centerlines. I installed 225x45x17 Falken Azenis Sport all four. I love them! Haven't had any trouble rubbing at all. Even when I hit gravel and a ditch jumped right out in front of me! :? I have a 1983 280zxt stock suspention. I cut 3/4 of my coil springs off all four springs, KYB 5 way adjustable struts/shocks.

  2. Those 17's with it lowered (coilovers)really look nice. I'm partial since your paint job and decals are the same as my car :). I bought the centerline's 17's went 225 front and rear Falken Azenis Sport. Really love the feel and ride. I did shade tree technique of lowereing by cutting 3/4 of a coil off front and back. Lowered about 5/8" need more thou.

By the way someday I plan on repainting her. Since she is white I've used Wal-mart white spraypaint for touch up a little to much :).

Do you know where we could get the replacement turbo decal we have on our cars?

  3. True. But Before you do that run a liquid filled fuel guage into your cab. Do your WOT. See if you lose fuel pressure at max. boost to verfy your fuel pump is not up to job at hand.

Your are pushing the envolope on fuel pump but seem to remember Scotty-miz running 18 psi boost on 370's using stock fuel pump (not sure).

Although fuel pump would be a good upgrade for future.

  4. You were right. I believe Its you stock pop off valve. Mine did the same thing. You hit too much boost in 2nd gear at high rpm.

I went ahead and installed a pipe plug where the pop off valve was. Also some of the ZXT's have a rev limiter at around 6000 rpm. Shuts everything down at that rpm. But sounds like you might just put another washer if not take the pop off valve off altogether. That is only if you feel secure with your boost adjuster not giving an overboost situation.

my 2 cents. My disclamer is I am not responsible for any damage that may be caused following my reccomendations (especally after I had a few beers :)

  5. You know. Really I bet they do the same thing. But I think I'll go the Seam sealer because it doesn't cost that much more and its formulated for the job at hand.

    Thanks Racer

Hey around 10/4/03 I'll be traveling to CA. for my 30 year reunion (dam I'm old!) at Cubberly High School in Palo Alto. I'll give you a call.

  6. Well, Just wondering where I can buy weatherstripping replacement for my 83 280 ZX Turbo. The Door weatherstripping along with the window and T-top rubber.

Tried MSA no luck, Vic Brit has the door weatherstripping for $99 per side!!!!! Looks like J.C. Whitney has some close matches of the Door weatherstripping for about $18 per side. No luck whatsoever for locateing the weatherstripping that mounts on frame around window and T-top.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  7. I bought the regular seam sealer and plan to apply on my 77 fiat spider. I have a few 1/4" by 3" cracks on the floorpan I plan to cut metal pieces, apply to outside with pop rivets. Along with precoating with seam sealer on underside and also inside of car after I first coat rust with Por 15.

I wanted to add info I obtained from a mechanic friend. Racer X have you ever used just cold tar that comes out of a caulking gun?

My friend swears by it. He says it will seal and also remain plyable enough to absorb the car vibration so it won't crack and allow moisture in the future?

Oh great goguly mugully any input on this?

Boy those fiats have alot of rust!

  8. "Wake up maggie, I got something to say to you....Its late September an I really should be back at school! I know I keep you amused; But I feel I'm being used...........Opps Brain Fart! That's Rod Stewart!

Wasen't "maggie" in the kitchen and was the cook where Dylan worked. In one of his songs!

Ahaaaa .....Hendrix "two riders were approaching...and the wind began to howl ...guitar solo....

  9. Thanks for the input. Hi Donna; good to hear from you! Sounds like you bought another Z.

Z's are like potato chips "bet you just can't eat just one"(or own just one!). I haven't forgot to send pictures of my car, especally now with my new 17" centerline rims & 225 45 17 Falken Azenis Sport's. Need to get her up and going to see how she drives :)

Midge I've got a buddy who's a mechanic. I told him my car idles like crap when cold. Once it warms up idles fine. If I dissconnect engine temp sensor idles OK when cold but once warm; runs pig rich till I plug it back in!

So I changed out and tested sensors as mentioned above. Then told my friend. I could just splice my engine temp sensor wire, install a reostate in cab. When cold starting: turn it one way, once she warms adjust the other way.

He said NO! you are just covering up the problem, we need to find the problem!

Well if I can't find the problem soon! I'm going to "cover up my problem with said reostate". I just can't be away from my baby this long!

We were looking at the ECU's thinking maybe My spare ECU wasen't correct, But looks like from everyone's input. The #'s can be slightly different. Something is not telling it to richen up the mix when cold!

  10. Need some help Guys

My 1983 280 ZX Turbo won't idle. Trying to cure the problem. Resoldered all splices on harness, replaced AFM, Engine temp sensor.

Noticed when I looked at inside of my computer I saw some corrosion. So I replaced it with another ECU. Still no luck on curing idle (runs lean I suspect).

The Serial # on my original ECU is A18-604 046

    3510

    Serial # on my replacement A18-60 042

    2707

If you have an ECU for a Manual transmission 83 280zxt. Would you tell me the serial numbers you have? I'm thinking maybe my ECU's could be wrong.

    Thanks

I've been away from Hybrid so didn't read your first post till today.

Hey comminication is the key. make it work for you. Just like any business deal or any negotiation, you have to be able to say to yourself "can I walk away". If not then you will be at the mercy of the other party and will have to live with their terms!

But let your feelings work for you. Tell her "Hey honey I love you very much. I worry about you; I don't know what I would do if anything ever happened to you; I know the bar scene it can be dangerious for a woman alone. I'm not saying you can't take care of yourself; its just I love you so much I feel the need to protect you". That's why I flew off the handle (I love you so much). Honey I will try to work on this but you gotta help me with my fears. If you care anything about me knowing how much I care about you. Show me you care enough to at least let me know you are alive from time to time!

Then if you wanna really get in good with her. If you go to a bar again go to the dance floor (make sure its really crowded so no one will notice :D ) then dance with her (slow dances all you have to do is hug and rock back and forth!). Man! she will see that happening knowing how much you hate dancing but making such a great sacrifice because you love her so much! bla bla bla... But if you did that I bet someone will have some great sex later that night.

You will also have a bargaining chip later reminding her you have really tried!

But in this relationship keep your eyes open and annalize! Don't even think you can change a persons habits when married! Look at them and say to yourself can I live with this crap "TILL DEATH DO US PART!". If not! You would have a wasted marriage. If you have kids in the marriage; you make it tough on them too! With all the fighting and evenutal DIVORCE! Because that will be the final outcome; no if and or butts! and you are currently wasting your precious life; being sidetracted with this relationship; and not devoting time for searching for the woman you could live with for the rest of your life!

I'm 48 years old too! (Dam! Tim78z! Boy you're old! :D ) I didn't get married till I was 30. I fell in lust :D too many times ! Being a child from a broken marrage I saw fights (mental not physical) heard words said that no child should ever hear!!!! That's why it took so long for me to get married! I never wanted a child go thru what I went thru. I also saw so many of my friends marriages end in divorce. Don't spent your time and money working on a rusted VW; when you could be working on a "Z" :-D

It got to the point where I prayed every night for a woman I could spent the rest of my life with! Don't get me wrong I'm not that religous. I've lived sex, drugs, and rock and roll to many years. But I do believe in God! And sure enough he answered my prayers with a woman (came with a baby girl) That I've been married to for 18 years. That I will spend the rest of my life with!

    Good luck my friend!

Oh yea on a more important note (that's a joke). Scotty looks like a SDS group buy is in the works. I don't know if you bought your stand alone computer yet! So don't know if you are interested!

Hey before you go replacing the thing. There is a lever on the pressure release valve you mentioned that was leaking (in Hybridz lingo I call it the BOV :D ). Get a container under it then work the valve off and on a bit, maybe you have some crap in the valve that caused it to leak a little. Then check the thermostat temp of the water in your heater maybe its to hot; and is maxing out the press. release valve. If it is; turn the heater down. If that doesn't stop it from leaking. Then go to Home depo and buy a replacement pressure release valve and install.

If that doesen't work then replace the HWH.

To replace HWH.Turn off gas at valve. Dissconnect the Cold (intake) and Hot (exaust) lines. then attach a garden hose to the drain; so you can turn on the drain tap to drain the HWH water at a good location outside. Then remove and reinstall new HWH using directions they provided. Note they sometime come with two orfaces for either propane or Nat Gas. Install the one that pertains to your application. Then use the $200 you save to buy yourself a BEER!

Use teflon tape at connections, if you need to cut the pipe, buy compression fittings and flex pipe of correct lenght to reinstall the new HWH.

Good luck; If I was nearby I'd help Ya!
