15'X15" Centerline Convo Pros

It's been literally years since I last was on Hybrid. However, here's some pics of rear flairs that I just finished for the MuscleZ. Time was not a factor so its been a slow undertaking to complete. Kudos go to Terry Oxandale (BlueOvalZ) is a masterwiz at design and fiberglassing. Terry and I have been friends for years and was kind enough to advise me on several of his techniques. The fronts should be completed wthin the month (hopefully). This project is on going and meticulous, but that's what building a custom is all about! Glare factor is the primary cause for the legality aspect. Street vehicles will come under that VC whereas, show vehicles come under a different classification. Neither are exempt from citation however.

Davy: I just had a short telecon with "OX", and I am going to give Ernie a call to see how he is doing. You are correct using the floral foam. After discussing the application with BlueOvalZ, Terry gave me a crash course on making custom flairs. After applying the green floral foam, use a sure form shaper to rough out the shape. Sand using progressively finer sandpaper. You do not have to cover the foam with duct tape, metal tape or for that matter any other. One characteristic of floral foam is that is is unaffected by resin. You can go right over the top. After completing the resin, kitty hair and/or cloth, use a finishing resin for final top coats. Sand down hardened resin until smooth. Prime with a high build filler/primer then color sand and block out your finished flair. If you use a white type foam, it may have a reaction to the resin...but, not the green floral foam. When you are done, simply wash away the foam with acetone. That will eat away at the foam, but leave you with a finished flair, already in place and ready to paint. 1971, dating twin cheerleaders at a rival High School. Their parents grad present to them was a silver 240! Sold My '55 Chevy Belair 2 dr hdtp (like a fool) and ordered one. Came home on military leave after a waiting list of 5 months. Christmas came early that year when I picked up the Z one week prior to that. Still have the car today, aka: "Two40MuscleZ" but its built a bit different with a 409 cid and over 650+hp. I also picked up Lone's old Z a while back and did a total rebuild aka: the "Orange Crate". I've just ordered a 6-71 roots style blower for it. The O.C. was recently featured in the Jan '07 Issue Super Street. Was hoping to feature them both at this years JCCS. Terry, informed me that I was the first person online to register for the show. Unfortunately, I was recently injured at work and I'm doubtful I will have them completed by the show deadline date. Brian: It's Code Enforcement that is giving you headaches, not the "Cops". The problem is that you can see this car from the street, and its an isore. What you need to do is place a cover over it and put it behind your side gate or in the garage. If its not visible from the street, there's really no problem. Someone on your block complained or a Code Ofcr. just happened to notice it as he was driving by. If you are using it for parts, then start taking a few off and storing it in your garage. Just get it out of sight. Thats all you really need to do, after all its a donor car isn't it? VAN

Jack...Your ticket should indicate a court date. Make sure you appear WITH your Proof of Insurance. Once varification that insurance was in force when the traffic stop occurred, then the Judge should dismiss the case. He may needle you a bit about keeping a copy in the vehicle. But in most cases it will be dismissed. Now the real question; what was the reason for the traffic stop? The Officer had to have PC (Probable Cause) in order to stop you. We just don't pull someone over for the hell of it!

I've read the posts and it comes down to either you like it or not. Now there are two destinct designs. The one that is center cut and the one that is more of the TransAm style with the cut outs above the door leaving a small center section in tact. Evildky is correct with respect to the structural support parts. In 1973 I had a sun/ moon roof installed which is larger than most and has a smoked plexy roof section that is contoured to the existing stock roof line/profile. It manually slides in and out of the anodized black aluminum frame. It also features an air deflection wing that slides into the front to deflect the air cavatation on the ears. Opens up the entire car and within 10 secs. I can button it up water tight. It does not detract from the lines or profile of the car. In most cases you don't even see it unless you are standing right next to it and it is a very clean installation. However, the company went out of business years back. But, having one in good working condition, it wouldn't take a whole lot to use it as a master and start knocking them out. I've just started my second company, MuscleZ Motorsports, and I will be featuring some custom dresser parts for the 70-73 240's to start. I should have my car on display at this years JCCS, and will kick off the business there. Currently working on a catalogue and promotional ad slicks. Anyway, I have always loved my sun roof and it has been an intrugal part of the cars accessories. Its just a matter of preference. VAN

This ones for Ernie: You and I are more like brothers than friends. From High School to the present, you have always been one of honesty, integrity and character. Those traits are unknown to the "bottom feeders" who have no respect for anyone but themselves and abuse those "Pearls of Wisdom" that you share so freely. You are highly regarded by your peers, and for those of us "Old Farts" that have been on this site for more than a hot minute, a word of encouragement to the "New Fish"...This site was spearheaded by individuals who think out of the box; who excel in design strategies and application methodology. If your going to be an active participant in this venture, then do so as someone who has principals, and not one who indulges in grade school antics. There is no room on this site for that crap!
