  1. i am swapping in a 84 z31 eccs in to my 81 zxt. i am using a 83 harness. questions, the 81 does not have a fuel control modulator, the 83 harness does. i do not have a FCM. how do i by pass the FCM? should i just run a 12v switched source to the relay lead? at that point i may as well run new 10ga to teh pump and use a newer, larger relay. thoughts please. i am putting in the harness today. actually i did and noticed the fcm not there.lol. thanks tony
  2. i need the plug/harness from a 82-83 zxt. its a 4 pin rectangle to 4 pin round. maybe 8 inches long. thanks tony
  3. i need a 82-83 turbo distributor and matching drive shaft. pics and price please thanks tony tcroson@us-nc.com
  4. I am looking for the f40 wing that MSA used to sell for the 280zx coupe. Anyone got laying around? I found them at showcarparts.com, but Ive read all the posts about them. Also looking for a type 2 body kit for a 81-83 coupe. thanks tony
  5. I am looking for pics of the msa type 3 air dam,or whole kit, for a s130. any pics at all. i seem to only find the one crappy pic on msa's site. and would any one know if this air dam will provide more room for a intercooler compared to the stock valance. thanks tony
  6. yes i know. chassis coat is the top coat for the por15. it is uv resistant. has a very nice smooth satin finish. my question, has anyone every por15 the body surface, then painted or whatever. what did it look like? nice and smooth, lots of runs, spiderwebs, fisheyes, etc. i know it wont ever come off once cured. i have used it before. but i like the idea of sealing the entire shell for all enternity.
  7. anyone ever use por15 on the entire body? everywhere. not just the chassis, but the finished surfaces as well. if you blast the chassis, the por15 it, it should work. they sell fillers for use on top of por15. then a nice coat of chaasis coat(satin black). i think it would look great, rust proof the entire for life. any thoughts or stories? i have only used it in small areas before, not on a scale as large as teh whole car. thanks tony
  8. is there any chance of testing the removing of the drip rails from the a-pillar and roof line? i am considering doing this and was curious as the overall effect it would have on a car with a whale tail and kamari front airdam. thanks
  9. just putting here too, so more parts get saved. http://classifieds.hybridz.org/showproduct.php?product=5771 thanks tony
  10. i have an late 82 zxt, 100% stock engine. i modified the harness for the 87 z31 ecu, chopper wheel, mas and o2s(i have the 87 o2s). all the connections are soldered and shrink wrapped. the following are brand new parts;coil, spark plugs and wires, cyl head temp sensor(oem), cap, rotor, and a new msd 4 pin connector that replaced a damaged dist connector. the fuel pump and psi reg are also new. the fuel pump is on its own 30 amp relay. i removed and cleaned all the pins on all the sensor connectors , coil and ptu. now, the problem. it will start, sputter, pop, hiss, and stall a few times before it will stay running. once the o2s is warm enough it starts to run better, and once the engine is at operating temp is idles smooth, no missing, right at 1000rpm. once you move the throttle any amount( crack it, WOT or anywhere in between) it will rev and start to sort of hunt. in other words, i hold the throttle steady, the rpms go up and down very rapidly and completly randomly. it may rev to 1500 and die down, then rev to 4000 or 2500, all the while i am holding the throttle steady. i have checked resistance in all the wires for the ignition, mas, CAS, CHTS, and power supplies at the ecu, mas, cas, tps. the chts is right the money ohm wise. i cant find any info on the mas resistance numbers, so if any one has those handy i would apprriciate those numbers. and please throw some ideas at me. i have tried everything. i even bought a spaer 87zxt ecu(its an auto though) and it does the same thing, even at idle because it tries to idle at about 1500rpm for some reason( i assume becasue of diff fuel maps for the auto trans). i also have 3 mas that i have swapped out to try and fix this. no luck. i was thinking of buying a 84-86 ecu and o2s and see if that will help. any thoughts? thanks tony
  11. kinda looks like reese bobby's chevelle in taladaga nights. i like it. i was gonna do similar with a s130.
  12. i am almost done with my 82 zxt z31 ecu and mas swap. i have the 87 ecu, and i think its bad. the car idles great, but when reved it cuts out at random rpm point under various loads. i swapped the mas, the coolant sensor is new, so ecu? anyway, given the chance which ecu would you buy, an 85 or 87zxt fed? i have the o2 bung but its not on yet, so either way thats not a concern. which work better, more reliable, etc. the 85 or 87. once i get it all done i will do a nice write up on the swap, to pass on the knowledge. thanks
  13. lots. 77, near mint body, waiting paint, rb26, and other stuff. 76, goregous original condition except for new paint. 73, runs good.little rust. for sale 72, little rust, lots of goodies on this one. for sale. 05 ,anniversary. DD. hey shut up, if it gets hit, who cares. there everywhere. save the s30's for another day. those are current cars. total is over 100 in 16years.
  14. hey chewie, hows my old car? i think she wants a lotus v8tt engine. engine trans complete only weigh 450 lbs. a couple of t28's and a nice intercooler setup and it up at 450hp. DO IT DO IT. tony
  15. i dont have a pic, but i had cloth 90tt seats in my 77. i like those seats, but the 350 track seats are just a little better.
  16. i did a 70 about 14 yrs ago. cut the top off a 81 and seam welded it in place. solid enough for me back then. only trick is to get them not to leak around the the window top.
  17. there are several companies that make replacement quarter panels, but who makes a nice fitting, good quality piece for a 72? thanks tony
  18. i have rewired several cars. if i remember correctly, the stock harness vs.a new harness with relays for all major systems will save you almost 30 lbs.(on a 75-78) and everything will work better, faster, brighter and more efficiently. just remember to make your own wiring diagram as you go. repairs later without it can cause severe headaches.
  19. after you remove the torque convter bushing from the crankshaft, remember to install a new pilot bearing.. i forgot mine when did it. i did this swap on my 81 zxt about 12 years ago. the flange on the diff is a different size than the 79. so either remove the diff flange, or buy a turbo 5 sp and drive shaft.
  20. you know, mull. i think i love you. its gonna be one of the greatest z's of all time. and speed up the movie making. there fun to watch. you might win an oscar.
  21. damn , that is alota rust. i just bought a 77 rust free(and i mean rust free) for 1800. and it has lots of other stuff with it. i would start over with a better car. save the good parts and find a nice roller some where.
  22. i need some spacers and brackets made for 82 zxt. ive tried ross c. at mms, but he only seems interested in selling me a 1000 brake setup i dont want or need. i am using 86 zxt 5 lug hubs and rotors, rx7 turbo2 4 pot calipers. i need it to fit on the car. i know its been done, several times. so who can point me in the right direction of someone who wants to make some money? my car is sitting waiting on these parts, and i want to drive it. thanks tony
  23. rgr that. i will be a wallerin it out then. thanks
