  1. I think you guys are confusing the subjects a bit. Let's simplify. By reading most of the responces, we've concluded that: 1. occasional profanity is ok when describing something off topic that requires color 2. it's not ok to use against other people 3. it's not commonly used to describe technical aspects of a Z swap. and there you have it, it simply boils down to common sense. I use occasional profanity in my daily life. I don't feel morally guilty for doing so, and I've never been directly told "alex, you swear too much." Michael made a nice elaborate distinction between the two in the paragraph above my reply. This thread will not (and has not) yielded any positive results instead of simply make members bash heads. Instead of arguing about it, people can just read past the already filtered out foul words, and move on with their lives. If it offends you, ignore it. 99.8% chance that it wasn't directed at you ps. Should we ban people named Richard from this board, because their nickname denotes profanity?
  2. bump steer is not caused by different weight of hte engine. Bump steer is the jittery feedback as a result of a lowered car, because the geometry alignment between the control arm and the tie rod has changed. To restore the steering feedback to its original state, the pivot point must be moved to make the tie rod parallel with the control arm again. or use a bump steer spacer (which doesn't really fix the issue, just moves it elsewhere) On a road/track car, this is not a problem as roads are smooth. Driving the car on the street, however, might result in negative feedback. In my case, I put bumpsteer spacers on and it worked out ok for me (my car was about 1.5" lower than before). I'm going to be taking those out and moving hte pivot point up about 3/4"
  3. up up, down down, left, right, left, right, b, a, b, a, select start !
  4. is one of them named Don Howard from Baltimore?
  5. STAMFORD, Conn. -- A high school student has been arrested for allegedly trying to sell drugs to two officers who were wearing jackets with the word "police" written in capital letters on the front, back and sleeves. Davaugn Goethe, 17, was charged with criminal attempt to sell narcotics Wednesday. Two officers were on routine patrol on Stillwater Avenue Wednesday morning in an unmarked vehicle known to "just about everyone" in the area, Lt. Jon Fontneau said. The officers were driving slowly, which is what many prospective drug buyers do, when Goethe waved them down, Fontneau said. Police said Goethe opened the back door of the police car, jumped in and asked the officers what they wanted and how much. "He said to the two officers, `You guys look like cops,"' Fontneau said. "Maybe it was the police raid jackets they were wearing with 'police' written in big letters on the back, on the sleeves and on the front." The officers turned around and grabbed Goethe's arm and told him he was under arrest, at which time he appeared to swallow the drugs, Fontneau said. No drugs were recovered. Goethe was held on a $2,500 bond for a March 23 appearance in Superior Court.
  6. http://www.surplusrifle.com/carbinenagant/index.asp mosin nagant m44 carbine with bayonet. I'll need to refinish and clean it, make sure everything checks out, give it a few good rounds through the barrel for fun. Now I got to wait for 10 days to get it
  7. That's a negative, ghost rider. The pattern is full.
  8. The 'Car Talk' show (on NPR) with Click and Clack, the Tappet Brothers have a feature called the 'Puzzler', and their most recent 'Puzzler' was about the Battle of Agincourt. The French, who were overwhelmingly favored to win the battle, threatened to cut a certain body part off of all captured English soldiers so that they could never fight again. The English won in a major upset and waved the body part in question at the French in defiance. The puzzler was: What was this body part? This is the answer submitted by a listener: Dear Click and Clack, Thank you for the Agincourt 'Puzzler', which clears up some profound questions of etymology, folklore and emotional symbolism. The body partwhich the French proposed to cut off of the English after defeating them was, of course, the middle finger, without which it is impossible to draw the renowned English longbow. This famous weapon was made of the native English yew tree, and so the act of drawing the longbow was known as "plucking yew". Thus, when the victorious English waved their middle fingers at the defeated French, they said, "See, we can still pluck yew! "PLUCK YEW!" of course, this was later debunked by snopes, but it's still funny
  9. One thing I can say about hybridz is I have less fear buying online frmo someone here than I do on other boards. Some examples of how much people will go out of their way: -mikelly shipped me a rear control arm for cost of shipping, and sent it out before I sent him payment -chevsun sent me stub axles when i urgently needed them. His exact words were "Let's say $25 plus cost of shipping. If they don't work out for you, just keep them." He sent them out to me first without even receiving payment for them. I cut him a check immediately before I got them I can site some other examples, but I can't think of any at the moment. My latest purchase from a hybridz member was from majik16106. Item was received on time, and everything was as it was described. -alex
  10. no one imports those to the US, unfortunately.
  11. I am driving home, and on my way home there's a house where there are always number of different cars parked out front for sale. Any year car and model, from '58 chevy truck to mid 90s mazdas. Today I saw a bright orange '72 240z in the front. It had decent rims from 80s, momo steering wheel. I've talked to this guy before, so I wondered what he's asking for the car. He wasn't home for me to ask, but knowing that he posts on CL, I looked up hte car and found it. here's how the ad reads, and in parentheses I will explain how it's false. ------------------------------------------- must see this classic 240Z car!!!!! - $3800 ------------------------------------------- this car is so clean and runs perfect. (clean on the ouside) rebuilt motor sent off to washington for factory overhaul ,it purrs. (bullshit. Based on my experience talking to him twice before, I will be $20 that it's a stocker with 150k miles on it. The oilpan was dirty) the body is perfect& rust free with BRAND new paint (Yes, earl scheib quality. It felt like sandpaper when I rubbed it, and he oversprayed the taillights, gas tank, exhaust, suspension, etc.) custom rims& new tires (yeah, ROADHUGGER tires. Rims where some cheap knockoff of american racing) no smog ever required (ok, this is true) 4speed,super super fast car. (superfast? Unless 17 sec 1/4 mile car is considered fast...) bright orange w/black interior. (yeap. see paint comments above. Interior is torn up beyond belief. Torn seats, cracked dash, lack of carpet. The only redeeming quality was a very nice momo steering wheel worth $170 new) i wish i had pictures cause then you'd see how nice this one is. (haha it's not!) a great everyday driver sportscar that is seriously impressive. (Sure, if you knock hte price down to say... $1,200-1,500) ---------------- this guy claimed to be the "Z car king of the 80s" I shit you not. He got all pissed off at me when I pointed out to him that the reason another Z he had didn't have working brakes is because there was no fluid in the cylinder http://www.craigslist.org/eby/car/26131496.html
  12. of course. and it was posted here too. 5 months ago
  13. he was the bassist for The Dead Milkmen. If you're not familiar with their humor, and there's one song to check out, it's Bitchin' Camaro. Probably the song that everyone has heard [of] and laughed. http://www.deadmilkmen.com/dmffa/viewtopic.php?t=1064&start=0
  14. btw, Dan, I'm not bitching or complaining, I'm just trying to list the problem with details to help resolve it, so don't take my posts at negative value thanks!
  15. I don't know if you guys watch "The Shield," but as far as TV on a regular network (FX/FOX), they no longer bleep out words. Yesterday I heart "Sh**", "bullsh**", dick, as*****e, etc. In the background of one episode, a song was playing, and the word F*** wasn't bleeped out as part of the song. Southpark had an episode dedicated to the word sh**. They even kept a counter running on lower left running up something like 200 times they used the word in the span of 22 minutes for the episode. They were mocking the fact that NYPD Blue used it in one episode on NBC. America is VERY mild and sheltered in every way. Look at europe and japan's tv. Germany and UK allow showing of women's breasts and partial nudity, and kids can see this. In Japan, they're allowed to show pretty much anything short of the pubic region. It's just a matter of time until it catches up here - starting with Janet Jackson's Superbowl stunt. In short, our morals (haha, this is going to get to be a touchy subject!) are changing and shifting. Remember when I love Lucy became such a controvercial subject because they showed her pregnant on tv? or the fact that in old sitcoms parents had separate twin beds that they slept on? They'd never show that 40 years ago! Come to think of it, rent the movie Pleasantville, it's a perfect example of transition and transformation.
  16. the r200 with vlsd will have an orange sticker on the cover saying VISCOUS LIMITED SLIP or VLSD. The r200 with vlsd only came in white '88 naturally aspirated 300ZX SS edition. 87.5-89 turbo 300zxs had mechanical limited slip. Easiest way to tell? The john coffey method. PULL THE DIFFERENTIAL COVER off! If it looks like this on the inside: It's a mechanical limited slip. To answer your original question, I paid $350 for mine with shafts converting it to use halfshafts (no cv conversion required), and the guy threw in a taurus 2 speed fan and solid mount for the diff, with halfshafts. To the guy looking at the 83 zx 2+2, it's not a limited slip diff.
  17. I disagree. Sometimes one needs to use choice profane words. Not excessively, but at some point there's no substitute. Sometimes they're used to voice frustration. To me, hybridz atmosphere is more like a bunch of guys standing around, drinking beer having involved conversations. At that point profane words like ass and dick become common vernacular, and everyone accepts them, in my opinion. Sure, I try to limit profanity around certain people out of respect for their desires. This forum is very very mild compared to the other forums out there. There are no flame wars here based on opinionated differences and so forth. But sometimes when you have to say "This guy was being a dick about the situation," it needs to be expressed as such to have the desired impact on the reading audience. my 2 cents.
  18. update: same problem happens on mozilla too (never access hybridz from mozilla)
  19. Hm, interesting, but the exhaust ports are closer to the frame rail than that, I don't think that would fit all too well. What type of header is that, and who makes it? real rough sketch of a base idea of a header. Main pipe would be 3" in diameter, with a 1.5 or 2" pipe from each exhaust joining into it. It could be easily made from common jcwhitney/summit tubing.
  20. I thought about doing that, but exhaust tube would be extremely long and cause lots of turbolag before the turbo would start spooling. Plus, it would interfere with coolant lines and such. I can mount it off the side, here's a general idea: Rough cheesy photoshop
  21. Complete driver's side mount. These are 1/4" steel. Passenger side mount Quality of the welds. Astounding! Mounts being touched up and modified Mr. 73botiz himself tig welding in action! There really is a long block in there! Look at the cute motor! Big thanks to Mike for taking time to help me out with this, and big thanks to jumbo240ez (Jon) and my friend Rob for killing a full day designing and making original mounts with me.
  22. you're definitely going about it the wrong way 8)
