  1. i had that problem on my 260z before, what i did not notice was that i put the throttle linkage wrong so it left the card open at full throttle. i would check the linkage first. hope that helps
  2. hey deja can you provide a link to the exact grill on ebay, i found a couple but they look different, id really appreciate it. thanks
  3. man that looks flippin sweet
  4. errr. oops i should of read braap's whole post hehe
  5. lol thanks braap, for those who want to know what it does is it lets the coolant come to the top of the first 2 cylinders and flows through to the back of the block were it is allowed to flow up into the head and flow back to the front of the head and out of the water neck, kinda neat if ya ask me, i never thought of it that way until my brother told me:icon43:
  6. just wanted to say hi to everyone and i was wondering if someone could help me out. I swapped and sr20det into my 280z and I am installing a new cometic metal head gasket. my issue is ( you can see from the pics) that the head gasket does NOT have some of the holes for the coolant gallies, im kind of baffled, are they supposed to be blocked off? i emailed the company i bought them from and they said it fits all sr20det engines from 89 to present (s13, s14, s15 silvias) but those holes are not where they should be. any help would greatly be apreciated. thanks in advance
  7. Hi everyone, just like to say i got my z back from vildinimotorsports were they did a great job on my car, Im completely satisfied with the work they have done, but i screwed up on the head gasket (no copper spray on MHG) and it leaks:malebitch. But to get to the point, here is my issue, while in the process of removing the cylinder head i noticed that one of the rocker arm has some scouring marks on it, i know it wasn't there before but i am wondering what caused it, do you guys think i have a bad lifter, or maybe something i overlooked? either way i got a spare block and head for parts so i can just swap the rocker arm and hydro lifter over but im not sure what the problem might be. thanks in advance
  8. dam that sucks, file a claim with Paypal, that usually makes em refund you (at least in my case it does)
  9. oops, ok pic 1 is the final drive sensor plug hole
  10. i got it from an 02 chevy cavalier z24 front bumper lip.
  11. They could be 3000grit sandpaper for the orital sander, i use em alot when wet sanding for buffing, and man do they work great.
  12. ok here are some pics of the front end, not sure if i took pics of what you ask for alexideways but here they are, notice my custom radiator protector( doesnt work that great) its off da hizzl foo shizzl:bling:
  13. thanks, well what im doing is blocking off the sides of the intercooler and radiator and cutting a vent in the hood so that the air flows through the front and hits the intercooler and radiator and i believe( i could be wrong) that when the vents are cut into the hood it will create a vacuum that will help suck the air through the intercooler. this link show the type of vent im going to try to make, but more suited and porportional for an s30 Z http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-98-Nissan-240SX-Carbon-Fiber-M-1-Sport-Hood-Body-Kit_W0QQitemZ200199804682QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200199804682
  14. hahahaha, Im a little worried i might tear the throttle body hose if i put too much pressure on it, i think Im going to get one of the engine damper kits just to be on the safe side.
  15. ill take a couple of pics tomorrow of the front end, i dont have and induction setup to get the air flowing to the intercooler yet, but ill post the pics any ways.
  16. Hi guys, just though id share some pictures of my Z with the sr20det swap im doing. I have been working on this thing for about 2.5 years, ive had to learn how to balance school work and my Z. Well soon it will run(maybe.......errrr hopefully) i miss driving this car soooo much, Im so happy to see its gotten to this point. and soon ill have it on the road, well check out the pics and feel free to give me some tips if ya like because its my first swap and Im still learning what works and what doesn't. lol nice engine but shatty engine bay.(rattle can FTW) Thanks in advance for the tips
  17. i was looking for a 3'' to 3.5'' hump hose but i couldnt find any, so the transition hose will have to do for now, eventually i move the intercooler forward closer to the core support and do a better v-mount radiator than the one i'm currently going to run
  18. yup, im using 4 ply intercooler hose which is rated to hold up to 80psi lol wich i wont even get close to heheheh.
  19. ok, so im doing an sr20det in my 75 280z and i'm doing a similar setup as Alex's top mount 240z from vildini motorsports. (mines a little more mickey mouse thought:weird:) I had an ubber-noob moment and decided to run a q45 throttlebody instead of the stock sr throttlebody. that being said there is bout 1 to 1.5 inch gap between the throttlebody and the intercooler outlet, is it ok to just use a 3''-3.5'' transition hose to connect the intercooler to the throttlebody? Does anyone think there will be any issues with engine movement causing the hose to tear under load?
  20. errrrrrr.lol never mind bout that, I figured it out , hehehe already had a factory tapped hole on the block. guess next time ill use my brain to put 2 and 2 together.
  21. Hi everyone, i dont post anything really becuse i usually search but i couldn't find what i was looking for so here it goes, i have a 1975 datsun 280z im doing an sr20det swap in and i picked up a t28 turbo and some ss coolant and oil lines and i was wondering if there is somewere in the block to tap a thread for? i know people tap & thread a hole on the water neck for a coolant return but im not 100% sure and since i had the whole engine rebuilt i really dont wanna screw something up, any tips or ideas would greatly be apreciated. BTW here is the link to the ss line i picked up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CIRCUIT-SPORTS-TURBO-LINES-S13-180SX-SR20DET-T25-T28_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQihZ011QQitemZ320204212760QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1VQQtrksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247
  22. If you instal an sr20det in your z you need to cut the driveshaft shorter right? my question is, is it possible to do a z32 300zx lsd swap into the 280z so that the driveshaft wont have to be shortened. i know it might be more work but 300zx lsd's are alot easier to get than the long nose diffs, also is it possible to get the 300zx axles to work( maybe some one here has done it?) anyy advise would be appreciated. thanks in advance:icon45:
