  1. Damn, I been wanting a 30 cal AR. You are not helping! Sounds like you like "grown up" plinking, I do as well. Steel plates at 100+ yards with my 44 sixgun. Not that I connect a lot, but it is fun. I have a .308 bolt gun, but an AR has gotta be more fun! Also have stashed about 500 rounds of national match ammo!
  2. Thanks Anthony and Clifton, this is exactly what I needed. Mild steel weld-el and my trusty Millermatic 175 is what I wanted to do. Makes it more "mine" than going to a fab shop.
  3. Searched and found several posts where this was done. 240hoke welded his on with MIG and standard steel wire. I wonder what is the "proper" way to weld a 304 SS weld-el to the stock manifold? I have access to TIG but don't know what rod to use. Also what is the long term integrety of welding this with MIG and wire? How long before cracks appear? TIA
  4. What I did: On the second pix, you can kinda see how far up the tranny tunnel I went. I had a lot of rust in this area. Hope this helps.
  5. Guys, I'm not intending to rain on anyone's parade and I will probably be interested myself once the bugs are worked out. Did anyone research SSAutochrome? Their stuff takes a regular bashing on the Honda forums mostly for cracking. It seems the quality of stainless available for the tubular portion is prone to cracking after welding. Most everyone (on the honda forums) agrees that their design is good but sometimes fall short on execution (welding) Customers have also had problems with returns, exchanges, etc, etc. http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2134877 Also see: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerosearch Search the archived posts in the forced induction forum for ss autochrome.
  6. Does anyone have a drawing, layout, or overhead shot of a Scarab louvered hood? I like the look and thought about punching some louvers in one of my hoods. Reading the aero section, nothing to loose and a very possible benefit. Besides, hot rods and louvers go way back. Anyone have any info? Thanks
  7. The 7MGE injectors can be moded to work with Camry and Corolla clips but the Supra clips are a real bitch to find.
  8. FWIW, SSAutochrome gets bashed a lot on the honda forums. Look at honda-tech.com and search for ssautochrome in the forced induction forum. Most agree that the basic design is good but complain about cracks developing early, too thin tubing, and not being braced properly causing the weight of the turbo to cause cracking. Some peeps defend them as a good cheap alternative.
  9. A good basic how-to on the coilovers: http://www.geocities.com/bry593/coilover/coilover.htm
  10. I knew that...........lol, I own a couple of hondas too.
  11. Lots of Honda sites out there. Try honda-tech. I'll bet they will be happy to help.
  12. I am planning a Z32 tranny install as well. Would it make sense to remove the existing tranny cross member mount, section it, and re-install it at a more rearward location so that it aligns properly? I know this would be a pain drilling out all those spot welds but it looks to me like it could be moved rearward by 2-3 inches or so. If I decide to do this, now is the time while my shell is on the rotisserie. TIA
  13. Simple tool I made to align my strut tubes for welding. Nothing more than two pieces of angle. I milled the flats to make it easier to use "C" clamps. They are not required but make the whole process easier. As clamped and aligned. Ready to weld. With this setup, you can put two large spots on opposite sides. Hope this helps someone.
  14. Yeah, I agree, the Lambo doors should stay on the Civics where they belong. lol!
  15. Don't we all......lol You are lucky that valve fragment didn't do any damage to your pistons! Take it from another decripid old man, Advil helps...... Thanks!
  16. My dd is a 94 Acura Integra GSR. Small car, about Civic size but with the 1.8 litre dohc engine. It's fun to drive, cheap to operate at 28-30 mpg daily and it will do better on the interstate. As mentioned above about hondas, the timing belt is the one maint. item to stay on top of. It handles pretty well and can be made to handle excellent. I've got over 200k on mine and other than the faded paint, it's still in excellent condition. chris
  17. They turn up on ebay from time to time. chris
