  1. I've done it in my Hondas. I used a quality zip-tie with an inserted metal ratchet. Worked quite well, I would not hesitate to do it again assuming I could find the right zip-tie.
  2. Anybody done it? I have to replace #6 injector and can see no way to get at it without removal. Even tried the dremmel method posted elsewhere. Any tips, tricks and advice is welcome! 93 300ZX non turbo.
  3. My advice as well. A gently used 700 in .243, 7-08, .308, (short action) or 25-06 .270, 30-06, (long action) would be my recomendation. What is your intended purpose for this rifle?
  4. Yes, just do it! Also, all that green/brown crap turns black and tastes metallic if you have been grinding in the garage all day on weld preps etc. Need to get that out. It feels so good to breathe again. I use a mask when grinding and sanding but a lot of crap still gets thru.
  5. What jt1 said 100%. As far as a "best", different barrel/actions respond differently. What's good for a heavy caliber hunting rifle might not work for a benchrest rifle etc, etc. I would like to add to what jt1 said, use plenty of release.
  6. I just redid the stereo in my Z32 using a new head unit and had the Bose enclosures redone with new drivers by zmaxsystems. Checkout: http://www.300zxclub.com/showthread.php?t=92400&highlight=bose+replacement And: http://webpages.charter.net/dm1/zmaxsystems/zmax%20home.htm hth
  7. No, they fit fine. They are a flat surface all around, so if your prep work on the existing material is flat and straight, thats about as good as it gets. Mine got bent and had to be straightened after struggling with all the spot weld removal. Since they are stamped out in a punch and die and not trimmed at all, you have to trim all around. I trimmed the top to size first then left everything that I could large and trimmed after welding. The original rockers are spotwelded all around so you will want to drill holes in the flange all around so you can plug/rosette weld the new rockers in. HTH!
  8. I'm in the middle of replacing mine now, one done, one to go. The only replacements I could find were Tabco. They fit OK, just be very carefull when you trim them to fit. Also do one side at a time so you can reference the other side for location. Good luck with your repairs.
  9. Nice guns. I picked these up at a gun show recently and thought I'd share as well. It is a .45, the tanto is Cold Steel.
  10. Another item that comes into play is the volume of the cooled transfer medium which is somewhat tied to the pumping capacity. You do not want to be pumping heated fluid into your intercooler. You are also going to need an efficient method of removing the heat from the medium (fluid?)
  11. ezzzzzzz, this has been done, but it escapes me where I saw the pix. In "Maximum Boost" Corkey Bell discusses air-water intercoolers related to turbos, but much of his info could apply to superchargers as well. Plumbing could get complicated. Hasn't Ford done something like this with their supercharged Lightning Truck?
  12. My post from a while back: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=142656 The fab and welding forum is a good place to search.
  13. Host your swap pix here. I wanna see too!
  14. Here's what I did to avoid the out-of-balance condition.
  15. FWIW, I recently got a deal on a nearly new Miller Econotig. $500 bux. The guy was an industrial welder and was welding on the side. The Econotig was too small for him. All the reviews I could find only fault the size, it's only 165 amps. So far, It's done what I need. I do realize that I may need to trade up if I'm doing thick aluminum, but, it welds nice! It's much better than I am!
  16. Yeah, why not? After all, there's nothing like towing home your new car!
  17. Yes, this swap has been done. Pretty simple swap but a lot of details need attention. Rear steer is not a problem, some of the tt peeps remove it anyway. The na version does not have rear steer. Might want to look around on: http://www.300zxclub.com/ and http://twinturbo.net/net/viewforum.aspx?forum=general
  18. Yes, I was thinking custom manifolds with both coming forward and no crossover in the rear.
  19. Excellent writeup! Question: If one were to front mount the turbo would the steering modification still be necessary? tia
  20. I've got one with a rod you can have. PM addy if you want it.
  21. And if you are using flux-core wire, spring for some gas if your machine will accept it.
  22. Good read: A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawking.................
  23. Don't know about the one you found but, here's it's brother........... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=136380
