  1. The thing is for most people here, the stock internals with factory cams will do everything they will every need it to do. Theres really not a huge amount of work needed for a 2JZGTE to be ready to get a 240z into the 9's power wise. In that case, they are very affordable. Beyond the longblock, you will need the following: Exhaust manifold Turbo sized for the power you want to make 3"+ Downpipe and exhaust oil feed and return lines air filter boost tubes, clamps, and couplers intercooler properly sized fuel pump, injectors, and lines, regulator, and rail. Its really all of the sub systems that cost the most money, not the motor itself. Justin
  2. Yep Thats it. I found one at napa for $6. Justin
  3. Has anyone purchased his new video Servin It Up 5? Has the Car on the promo advertisement. http://www.servinitup.com/ Regards, Justin
  4. Thanks John! Well, I would be using new sheetmetal, but not really changing the design of things. I guess I'm safe then. I'll be using the bad dog rails, ect. Regards, Justin
  5. The search over at supraforums is back up. There is a ton of information over there to look through. Justin
  6. Here is part of the rules that has me worried: "Unless an OEM framerail is located below and outside of driver’s legs, a rocker or sill bar, minimum 1 5/8-inch x .083 CM or .118 MS or 2-inch x 2-inch x .058-inch CM or MS rectangular, is mandatory in any car with a modified floor or rocker box within the roll-cage uprights (excluding 6 square feet of transmission maintenance opening). Rocker bar must be installed below and outside of driver’s legs and must tie into the main hoop, the forward hoop, frame, frame extension, or side diagonal. Rocker bar may not tie into swing-out side bar support. If rocker bar ties into side diagonal more than 5 inches (edge to edge) from forward roll-cage support or main hoop, a 1 5/8-inch x .083 CM or .118 MS brace/gusset is mandatory between the diagonal and forward roll-cage support or main hoop."
  7. I'm getting ready to build a 10pt NHRA cage in my 280z. I have a few rust issues that I have to take care of in the floor pan. Does cutting the rust out and replacing it with new sheetmetal count as a modification to the factory floor pan? If it does, it looks like I need to add a rocker bar to the cage on both sides. Thanks for the help.. Regards, Justin
  8. I ended up using a short tail TH400 that my father had laying is storage. It has a BOP bellhousing on it, so I bought a Ultrabell from JW for it. The Ultrabell has the Chevy and BOP bolt pattern on it. I will then use a boostwerx adapter kit to mate the 2JZ to my ultrabell bellhousing. Regards, Justin
  9. Where can you buy the triple point that is long enough to get at the cylinder head bolts. I'm trying to pull the head off of my 2JZGE, but am having lots of problems. I was hoping that someone could help me out. The MAC set I have is too short to reach down in the head and get at the bolts. Regards, Justin
  10. Since my car has a crappy floor plan with rust issues along with other problems that needs some work I think I'm going to go ahead and cut out most of the factory sheetmetal under the seats and do a SFI 25.2 style floor section. I will basically be doing a 25.2 chassis without doing a backhalve or funnycar style cage around the driver. This seems to me the best way to go forward on the car as I won't be limited if I do want to go further with this chassis. Anyway, here is what the floor section of the cage will look like. This will give me a chance to lay down fresh sheet metal. These pictures are from a drag radial stange... Justin
  11. Its got a 96mm/88mm turbine wheel. It should be about as responsive as a GT4780 since this S480 has a divided housing, but larger turbine wheel. Should be a beast at the track, but it will be lazy off the bottle. When is the bigger turbo going on your car Mike? Justin
  12. Heard back from the seller. He wants 2k for the car as is. I'll keep looking as IMO thats too much. Justin
  13. Well I've purchased for my datsun for chrimas: Borg Warner S480 TH400 JW Ultrabell 160ft of chromoly tubing ProTools 105 HD tubing Bender Dynomax 5" muffler 2JZ L19 Main Studs SLS T6 divided collector 2JZ exhaust manifold flange 2X synapse 50mm wastegates Precision 825hp B&P intercooler Aluminum boost tubes and couplers 75mm holley throttle body All that in the last money has my bank account gasping for air... Justin
  14. Thanks, I gave him a call and am waiting to hear back. Regards, Justin
  15. Yeah, its a bit of a problem for me deciding. Anyone else have more input? Justin
  16. You can also get the bellhousing here. Very good shop here in portland. http://www.rrevstore.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=32_1087&products_id=18032
  17. Should make power until 9500-10000 with the right valve train and rods. I won't be reving it that high though. I'm looking at shift around 8500 for reliability. Justin
  18. Should spool and make 30+psi at 5500-6000rpm. Justin
  19. The turbo is a Borg Warner S480. It has a 80mm compressor wheel that is good for 1250hp. The turbine housing is a T6 divided. It should be plenty for as much power as I'll ever make. Justin
  20. Yeah, I just sat the turbo on the strut tower brace to get some pictures so I could eyeball where I can and can't place the waste gates and turbo routing. I think this thing will actual fit pretty nicely once I get the 2JZ in there as I will mount it vertically instead of at an angle like the L28. Heres the turbo manifold rendering I was working on. I am going to have to yank apart the 2JZ motor I bought. Looks like the intake valves are bent. I guess you never know what your going to get when you buy used parts from a person on craiglist Justin
  21. Yeah this is all the stuff for the 2JZ. I'm tempted to build a turbo manifold and mount the turbo on the L28. Would be funny to try it out I honestly don't think it would overheat the oil if you wrapped the tubing. Justin
  22. I figure the best way to run a huge turbo on a L28 is to put it on the passenger side and run the header under the oil pan and up to the passenger side. Once I remote mount the battery I'm going to have a 5" side dump with muffer: Also heres a picture of the TH400 with ultrabell waiting to be installed. Happy Holidays, Justin Olson
  23. I ended up going with L19 stock sized studs as it was just cheaper and easier to go this route. I payed $450+ shipping from RREV motorsports. Regards, Justin
