  1. I'm at the point where I'm getting close to being ready to swap in my 2jz into my 77 280z. I'm beginning to think I would be happier finding another S30 chassis for the swap so that I don't have to tear apart a perfectly good chassis with a rebuilt motor. I also would have to figure out how to get the 2JZ through emissions with the engine swap. My current plan for the 2JZ is to do a 5" side dump exhaust with a single muffler behind the passenger side front tire. This obviously wont pass emissions in my 280z as it came with a catalytic converter from the factory. I would have to weld up a DEQ exhaust to get the car through emissions. If I was going to source another S30, I'd get a Pre 75 car so that I wouldn't have to go through emissions test up here in Oregon. I was just hoping for some insight on this. I already have enough car projects, so another car isn't really wanter per say. I just don't want to tear apart a perfectly good running car for the swap. The 280z motor was replaced less then 10k miles ago by the previous owner. Makes me feel kinda bad yanking it out and setting it in storage. I have all of the roll cage tubing being delivered tomorrow so I'm getting close to going one way or the other in this decision. Regards, Justin Olson PS, Anyone have a rolling chassis pre 1975 S30 in the NW that they want to sell for a reasonable price?
  2. Anyone else have a love/hate thing for these MSA type 3's? I love this car: But I've seen a lot of cars that they just look cheesy on. How do they look in person? I've never seen one up close. Does it fit the style of the car, or does it take away from the "classicness" of the car? Sorry to go off topic. Justin
  3. These bumpers are growing on me for some reason. Looks really good!! Justin
  4. I was driving my car over to my friends tonight. On the drive there the headlights worked fine. When I was ready to leave the headlights wouldn't turn on. The tail lights and driving lights worked fine. Just the headlights wouldn't turn on. I turned the car off and went in side. Came back out to try and figure it out. The car starts right up and the lights work... WTF??? Anyone have some insite. I've got a 77 280z with the factory wiring. Regards, Justin

  7. I ordered 100ft of 1.625 X 0.083 CM and 40ft of 1.25 X 0.065 CM. That should be plenty for two cages I'd think =) Its begun.. Another question, Do I need to do a bar that follows the rocker? Its shown here in the rule book: Regards, Justin
  8. I love it. Your car is very badass looking! Justin
  9. I've been thinking about doing a Z32 with this 2JZ engine I'm building. What are your guys thoughts on this? Is it worth doing? How light can you get a 2 seater Z32 with light seats, hood, ect. Is it just a pig of a car? Justin
  10. This is also a really nice way to add methanol injection IMO: http://www.rossmachineracing.com/dualinjassm.html Regards, Justin
  11. Yeah, I'm going to be using 1.625 X 0.083 Chromoly. Maybe I can get most of it up there. Justin
  12. This is another good place to get injectors: http://www.racetronix.com/
  13. So should I mount as much of the downtube to the rocker as possible? Regards, Justin
  14. For the A pillar bars I've been trying to decide how I'm going to mount them. Option 1: Option 2: Regards, Justin
  15. I'm just not sure if boxing plates are legal for NHRA. That seems like a good way to go if it is.. Here are the rules: http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/wiki/NHRA-legal_Roll_Bar Regards, Justin
  16. I'm going to be building a NHRA cage for my 280z starting the 26th of December. I'm looking for ideas of how to fit the 6X6 base plates nicely. Any close up pictures would be appreciated. I will post a lot of pictures I've seen around here and I'd like feedback of whats is a Good -> Better -> Best Way. The only thing that concerns me on the cage bellow is the main hoop contacting its base plate at an angle. Is there any way to get around this? Regards, Justin
  17. Manifold Design for big turbo: Regards, Justin
  18. I'm going to have to model the S30 engine bay and 2JZ engine placement so that I can accurately model this header before i build it. I'd rather go through a half dozen revisions on the computer before cutting metal. Justin
  19. I'm really going to bed now... Regards, Justin
  20. Heres the turbo and two gates for reference: Regards, Justin
