The thing for me is not getting away with it. I miss out and don't get done so many projects because I'm too busy reading and figuring out how to do them perfectly. I just want to curb the behavior a bit honestly. I don't really play video games or watch tv. I'm just always on engineering or car forums reading. I guess its not all that bad compared to some things I could be doing. Just seems kinda dumb to be spending most of my free time on the net (2/3 time student and 45hr/week job). I should be out chasing more girls I guess.. But that brings on a bunch of other problems Justin

Thanks I just downloaded that. Really its about balance and restraint for me. I'm on a bunch of different sites lately. I use the customized google homepage so no matter were I'm at I login to that and all my links are there. I guess it's a blessing and a curse. Also, anyone use Gmail? The new discrete built in AIM chat is killing me. I've been using that way to much at work Well it looks like I'm not the only one with these sort of issues. I really agree with Austin that looking and looking around the internet for ideas doesn't necessarily make you a more creative or better car builder. How wide is the dash before you cut it down? Justin

Well my interest is using a Mickey Thompson 325/50-15. Sidewall width: 13.1", tread width = 11.6", diameter = 28". If I raised the ride height a bit, do you think these flares would work ok? Rick Bower has the same tire on his YZ equipted car. Well I'm semi serious about this. I've just been thinking and I spend so much freaking time surfing the net. At work, at home, whenever I can. Its one of those weird things were its not really destructive, but just eats up a lot of my time. Does anyone else have trouble reading to much on car forums, ect? I think I'm going to have to limit my time on the net some how. Its hard because I work on a computer, and I have a laptop at home... Justin

I sourced a R230 differential and axels today. I'm just slowly but surely collecting parts. I'm not sure if I will be using my 280z for the swap. Maybe but not sure at this point. If I can find a semiclean 240z I'll get one and put all my parts on that. Regards, Justin

Just figured I'd post this video. This is a S14 240sx drag car that is using a R230 differential. This just made me completely convinced that I will be not tubing my 2JZ drag car. This car is a 3.4L 2JZ with a 88mm turbo backed by a power glide. Mmmm, Well maybe I will go look at it again and get the VIN number off of the firewall/dash. I wish I would have just checked when I was looking at it as its about 35 miles away from my place in hillsboro. Maybe I could have the guy look at the VIN number as he seemed pretty oblivious to what it was. The more I think about it, the more this sounds like a stolen car then anything else. He has no title, and just seems to have paperwork that was in the car. The guy seemed really layed back about it. Maybe he has no idea. He said he just bought the car from a friend and its been sitting for 6 months at the apartment. Maybe we could get John Kurzhals to check out the car as he lives out in Oregon City. Well I went and looked at this car out in Oregon City today: http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/car/538228453.html I was hopeful when I saw the add because clearly its not a 280z. I figured it was a 74 260z. Well I get there and start looking it over. Its a 240z clearly. 240z tails lights/ bumpers ect. I go and look at the drivers side door jam. It has a build date of 6/76. WTF??? I'm really confused at this point. I continue to look the car over and talk to the guy selling it. He then tells me he doesn't have a title but a bill of sale. He shows me a insurance slip from the previous owner. It was registered as a 76 280z. From what I can tell someone along the way swapped the VIN plate in the door. I'm not sure what to do. The car has a fairly clean body with some bondo from when it was resprayed. The interior is trashed and the floor boards are rusted. I have pictures for those that might be interested. I'm thinking I might just buy the car and find a VIN plate from a shell that has a title. Reswap it over and register it as a 240z and go from there. mmm, what to do I guess I ought to just pass this one bye and avoid any trouble down the road with the titling and registration. What is nylons creep characteristics over time? Most plastics have trouble with creep when loaded. I would be worried a crush fit could turn into a loose fit over time. Justin

For those wondering why the CNC guy is taking so long to produce these flanges, here is a bit of info. His wife was in a bad wreck about a month ago. He hasn't been able to work normal hours and has fallen behind. I'd like to let him finish the flanges as he has the fixtures finished.
